Luhman 17

Luhman 17 is a large rogue planet located 7 light years from Sol. Originally thought to be an extremely small and cold brown dwarf, upon arrival by scientific researchers in the early 22nd Century, it was discovered to be a planet five times the size of Jupiter that had not achieved fusion of any kind, its planetary dust cloud snatched away by some unknown cataclysm, leaving this failed star to float alone in the void. It has since been turned largely into a tourist trap, where people can visit the 'starless planet'.   A vast and dark world, it is lit only by the internal smoldering of inner core, the occasional glimpse of light peaking up through the endless storms that cover the planet.  Amongst its rings, countless human establishments have sprung up, creating a large city-like habitat across the rings. Comprised of hotels, casinos, bars, and apartments, the starless planet, as it has come to be known, is alive with the buzz of tourism.
