On the Growing Disparity

Economic study turned political manifesto.

I have known Mr. Kestilst for many years and I remember the first time he told me that he was working on this book. It was to be purely informational, a simple delve into the history and the state of things. In a word, it was going to be boring.   What you are about to read is anything but. As he dug into old records and gathered data, he became increasingly frustrated with the state of things. This book will still serve to inform you about how we got here but it will also provide some guidance on where we should go.
— Sir Karnaster Evulbrung, foreword to Thoughts on the Growing Disparity of Wealth

To Break the Chains

Officially titled Thoughts on the Growing Disparity of Wealth this document by Honovan Kestilst explores the historical factors that have led to the current economic and social state of Burim. However, it goes beyond those initial bounds as well because the author became increasingly frustrated with the state of the nation as he did the research for the book.   By the time it was finished and printed, it had become a work seeking to inspire action. In the author's opinion, for too long the Burim Council and other powerful people in the nation have continued to create laws and structures that move wealth from the bottom to the top.

Suppression

The book has caused quite an uproar in Burim and has become the single that the Literary Authority of Burim wants removed from the hands of the public. As a part of this project, several people have been arrested for possession of the book and the author has fled the nation.   It is unknown who actually printed the book and the Literary Authority has been unable to get to the bottom of it. In response to their own failure, they have installed inspectors at all of the major publishing houses to ensure they don't produce the book.   There have also been public book burnings of the work held by the Literary Authority as they disposed of copies they gathered.
