Banning Unacceptable Materials

The primary goal of the Literary Authority of Burim is to remove from distribution any texts - or other works of art - that are determined to be against the culture of the nation. The organization was only created after the rise of the True Citizens of Burim who have been creating and distributing materials critical of the Burim Council. The primary targets of the Authority have been works critical of the Burim Council but also works that point out issues with the economy, social stratification, and much more.

Broad Powers

The organization was granted broad powers not only to find and remove materials deemed inappropriate but also to prevent the creation of such materials. As a result, the Authority's actions have led to several scholars and intellectuals going into hiding or fleeing the country entirely for fear of joining their colleagues in prison.

Assault on Education

Critics of the Literary Authority - including some in the Burim Council - pointed out that the organization would be used to hinder education at all levels by removing materials from schools, arresting authors, and removing professors from their positions. It wasn't even a full year before the critics were proven correct and all of their claims were proven true.

Pure Evil

The Authority has held public book burnings to send a message to those who would resist. Civilians have even been seen joining in and throwing papers into the fire. Takalia - a famous author from Grara - has never hidden his opinion that these actions are pure evil.
