"We can no longer sit idly by while the Council hides behind their walls making decisions that will take from us to fill their coffers!"— Lira Arcturus
Rulers of the Long City
The members of the Burim Council make decisions for both the
Long City and the
nation at large. They determine taxation, funding distribution, trade regulation, laws, and much more.
Foundations of the Council
The council was formed with the nation shortly before the
Time of Rebuilding and was comprised of prominent members of the - then small - community. As time went on, new members were added to the council by the existing ones in order to replace lost members or when the size of the group was increased. At its founding the council was comprised of seven members but has grown to fifty-three at present.

Consequences
The decisions of the council over the past three centuries have become increasingly favourable to the ruling class and their relatives and friends. This has made living in the
city increasingly difficult for many people, forcing many to leave. Many have settled in a region of seasonal lakes, creating the
Muck Drudgers.
