Interrealm portals
Time and again we return to the technology both ancient and highly futuristic, the portals between realms. First created in the times before times, the portals originally merged the resources of the four realms - the cut stone of Earth long before they found Tyr; the iron and runes of Infernus, providing the conduit for the sunblessed enchantment of Parnathum all woven together with the circuitry of Levis, the living vines grown in ancient designs to pull into the well of possibility.
Before the portals, the well tore rents at random into the cloth of the realms, pulling fire into foliage, stone into rye in endless chaos, and it was the ancient mages of the four realms that built the links between worlds and created stable gates. These gates permanently stopped the rents, but each gate was specific in both its position in the real, and in the path it could take.
With the human betrayal of the people of Levis, the foliads of Levis broke their portals and ripped magic through the system in such a way to permanently damage all that would come after. And it was almost 2000 years before after would arrive.
With the memory of the betrayal but an echo, it was the very public arrival of Macus that inspired Thalia Moondance to start exploration into the other realms. Unfortunately she disappeared after 'solving' the issue. Using her notes, Kaid Renn sent some adventurers after her led by Devin Evergreen on a journey to try and retrieve her. While Devin's actions got him into hot water, the adventuring team did manage to solve an unreliable fix to the portal problem - led out of a portal in the Oracle Grove.
Over the next few years, work and studies by both those on Levis (often led by Thalia) and those on Parnathum led to a spiderweb of connections being made throughout Levis (and their surrounding regions) and the other realms, until the Pilgrims of Hardship jumped through the portals to Infernus, leading to the Second demon war.
Since then, while the Oracle Grove portal lies in ruin (as does the one in Brusbann Pass), work continues on bringing back the connections between worlds, all while preparing for the chaos an carnage should the humans of Tyr and Earth be made aware of the realms beyond.
The Modern Portal
The modern portal connects the well with the three realms fit for travel - relying much more on modern technology than simply copying the old ways (though that was how the first modern journeys were made). Powered by the various power sources of the realms (for example the Solar Cell of Levis), and tracing itself on a mixing of Demonic runes traced in on circuit magic diagrams, this is all traced along a gate made from material of the home realm, with a shard from the Well of Possibility. These new shards come slithering through the crack within the well, and have proven themselves vital in both stabilising the well from ripping into the realms, and for constructing gates that connect away from the human realm, although the old network still exists as both a threat and a promise.
Thank you for reading, feel free to give feedback.
I love that you have included both the historical technology and the newer version. Really interesting

It like the Br1n stuff is a core to the universe and I'm ashamed its taken this long to officialise.
