Black Mark Weapons
Black Mark short for Black Market is a designation employed to denote weapons manufactured by non licensed manufacturers. In essence a Black Mark weapon is a weapon that uses a stolen design template and is 'mass produced' by illegally controlled fabbers (3D printers).
The biggest manufacturer of such weaponary, based on current estimates, is the Organizatsiya aka the Org. A criminal syndicate which spans several counties and is active even in the capital, Utopia. Statistics gathered by various police intelligence units estimate that 55% of Black Mark weapons are made by the Org, making it the major illegal arms maker & dealer.
On the street such firearms are often called retroguns due to them being based off ancient Earth designs. Another name given to them is 3D special, usually used in terms of pistols. Police and law enforcement designate these weapons simply as BM. though this designation has caught on with the Org's weapon makers and they're starting to use it as a brand.
Currently the three most common Black Mark weapon types found among the criminal underworld of the settlement are:
- Bizon 9mm aka the Bison 9 or B9. A helical magazine sub machine gun, uses 9mm Parabellum or 9mm Makarov caseless ammo. A magazine carries 64 rounds. Effective range: 100m. Favourite of street gangsters who like to throw around a lot of lead
- BMK-47; breathing new life into a classic weapon on a new world. The BMK-47 is a direct copy of the old AK-47. It is chambered for the 7.62mm SOVIET caseless round. It can either come with a 25 round magazine or a 35 round magazine. Effective range: 350m.
- BM10; Black Mark knock off of another classic design the Glock 17. The BM10 used 10mm Auto caseless rounds. There are two variants on the street at the moment (2336 CE). The BM10S which has a standard 13 round magazine and the BM10E which has an extended magazine of 16 rounds. Both models have an effective range of 50m
Recently (within the last month or so) there have been reports of Black Mark revolver hitting the streets, this particular weapon being a favourite of syndicate hitmen and enforcers. This weapon has been dubbed the BM Ronin; a copy of a Ruger Vaquero. The Ronin comes in .45 cal or .357 magnum cal, interestingly it is also the first Black Mark design to modify the original. Where the Vaquero was chambered for six rounds, the Ronin is chambered for seven rounds and has an effective range of 23m.
