Age of terror
Age of Terror
201 AT – 1 AT The Age of Terror was a dark chapter in the history of Lavir — two centuries when evil ruled unchecked, and the weak had nowhere to hide. It was an age of cruelty, chaos, and despair, where tyrants, warlords, corrupt kings, Demons, bandits, slaveholders, and twisted scientists all competed for power. Entire kingdoms bent under the weight of oppression, and the common folk learned to live in fear, losing any hope for change.A World in Chains
The Nael Dynasty’s iron grip over Mysteria was one of the biggest and darkest symbols of the era’s tyranny, though they were far from the only villains. Slave markets thrived in every major city and port. In the shadows, secret guilds like the brokered assassinations, smuggling, and blood-debt pacts. In hidden fortresses, and sometimes even publicly, amoral scientists and mages conducted horrific experiments on living beings, seeking power or forbidden knowledge with no concern for the suffering they caused. For the common person, safety was an illusion. Bandits controlled the roads, pirates ruled the seas, and armies marched endlessly in wars that served only the ambitions of kings. Whole cities were destroyed, their populations scattered or enslaved. In some regions, generations grew up never knowing a time without war.The Golden Age of Demons
For Demons, the Age of Terror was a golden age. The Veil between Lavir and Abyss was thin, and the world of Lavir swarmed with them. Hundreds, even thousands, roamed freely, doing as they pleased. In many lands, they met no resistance at all — not because they were invincible, but because the rulers of men were too busy with their own feuds to care. Even lesser Demons, too weak to cross the Veil on their own, found ways to join the slaughter through reckless summoning by Mages hungry for power.Fall of Religion
Among the most shocking changes was the collapse of organized religion. Discoveries during the late Age of Terror — from the physical existence of Angels and Devils to their own testimony denying the existance of god — shattered faith across nations. Entire faiths dissolved almost overnight; others fell into violent, futile wars to enforce belief. By the dawn of the new age, religion as the world had known it was gone. The Sparks of Rebellion
Though the Age of Terror was marked by defeat after defeat for the oppressed, sparks of resistance never fully died. Secret alliances were forged. Rebel cells took root in forgotten forests, mountain passes, and the hidden corners of great cities. For most, their efforts were desperate and short-lived… until the rise of a small team of young heroes. Their courage lit a fire in the hearts of the oppressed. One by one, others joined the fight. Across the world, resistance groups began to rise, emboldened by the knowledge that tyrants could bleed — and fall. The End of Tyranny
The final years of the Age of Terror were a cascade of victories for the resistance. Evil rulers were overthrown; bandit lords captured or slain; slavery abolished; demonic hordes expelled; experiments on living beings banned. Piece by piece, the world began to heal. The decisive moment came in 1 AT, when the united rebel forces, alongside the Heroes who ended the Age of Terror, struck down Shin'en Nael and ended his dynasty’s grip over Mysteria. In the same year, the royal bloodline of Sordelle was extinguished, King Robin of Kingdom of Kauton overthrown, corrupt kingdoms collapsed, and a new era began.Legacy
It has now been ten years since the Age of Terror ended. The scars remain — ruined cities, lost bloodlines, haunted battlefields. But so does the memory of what courage can achieve, even in the darkest times. In the After Age of Terror (AAT), the story of those who fought back is told again and again, a reminder to never let the shadows grow so deep again.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
