The Green Door

Located at the end of a back alley in Lys, the Green Door is a shop that sells the most impossible to find items - magical relics.

Purpose / Function

The Green Door is a shop that trades in magical items. Its long shelves, often covered by unbreakable glass that only the shopkeeper can open, contain a vast myriad of long-lost relics, ancient weapons and armor, and even scrolls of power and potions of magic. In one section of the Green Door there are armor stands holding suits of magical plate armor or mail. Another area is fenced off for the testing of weapons. There is even an indoor range to test wands of magical power or missile weapons.   The shop's owner, Everan of the Silver Eye, also claims to dabble in enchanting other people's items with magical power; however, he will only enchant the finest of masterpiece objects and his price is steep.   On any given day, the Green Door will have in its inventory every standard potion and most rare potions. The Green Door will also possess most regular scrolls and have a good chance of having major scrolls in their inventory (3d6, 5+ to find the scroll in inventory).   Everan will also typically have most minor magic items, such an Orb of Ardwen (minor godling of light) or an Everfilling Flask. Weapons, shields, and armor are rarer, and the likelihood of Everan having exactly what an adventurer is looking for is often a matter of luck.   Major relics, and especially artifacts, rarely are on sale in the Green Door.

Denizens

The shop owner, a male Elf named Everan of the Silver Eye, is the only constant person in the Green Door.  While there may occasionally be other adventurers or wealthy nobles patronizing the shop, such persons are cloaked and masked to prevent their identities being uncovered.  Everan does not appear to have any assistants working for him.

Special Properties

The Green Door can usually be found at the end of an alley off Salt Street in the Old City District of Lys, but sometimes it disappears.  It as if the shop can choose when to be present and available in the world.   When a group of buyers come in together, they see each other normally.  However, should another buyer or group of buyers enter the shop, they would see the other group as swathed in a dark cloak and wearing a mask.  The Green Door creates this minor illusion to protect the identities of its patrons.

Architecture

While the outside of the shop is unremarkable (save for the brightly colored kelly green door and brass sign that reads "open until closed"), the inside is dimly lit by unseen lights.  The walls are covered with billowy fabrics and tapestries.  Just inside the front door is a large hardwood worktable.  Next to the table is a small rolltop desk, usually overflowing with papers, and stool.  On the floor nearby is a large bronze chest with a slot in the top for depositing money into.  The chest is engraved with images of sleeping basilisks and piles of skulls and bones at their feet.   Past the table are row after row of shelves that are frequently covered by glass and secured with bronze locks.  In one area just beyond the shelves is an open area populated by armor stands draped with leather, chainmail, and sets of plate armor. Across from this area is a wall that is covered with weapons.  Nearby is a doorway that leads to small ring that would permit a person to train with most melee weapons, and a long gallery where ranged weapons can be tested.
