Delian Empire

The Delian Empire is the largest of 147 nations that occupy Kovere.

Structure

The Delian Empire, known to the rest of the world as "the Empire", is led by a golden drakona named Emperor Dralara Narivrax. Emperor Narivrax has held the illustrious title for the entire 300 years that the empire has existed. She is nearing the very edge of the known drakona lifespan.

Directly under Emperor Narivrax falls Parliament and the High Chancellor of the Empirical Military. The Emperor, Parliament, and the High Chancellor work together to create a sense of checks and balances in government. In times of war, Emperor Narivrax dons the title General Narivrax as she provides strategic direction to the High Chancellor.

History

Technological Level

Two things have directly contributed to the rise of the Delian Empire as the single most powerful nation on Kovere. First, 175 years after Emperor Narivrax formed the Empire before her mages found that the magic coming from the natural ley lines that crisscross the globe could be harvested of their magical energy. Second, the the Emperor had the foresight to direct her mages and artificers to design magical storage batteries and study the practical applications of stored magical energy. In the 125 years since that initial discovery, the Empire has experienced an exponential growth in magic-based technology they have appropriately dubbed magitech.

With the use of magic in this way, the mages who later gave birth to magitechnicians and magitechnological engineers have developed vehicles - unispheres, bispheres, trispheres, and quadspheres, as well as various reinforced military vehicles, weapons, agricultural advances in vertical hydroponics, public lighting, and even magical augmentations (called maugmentations or magiware) that can be installed in the sentient ancestries of Kovere. The first iterations of magiware were used as prosthetics for amputees. Eventually, magitechnicians figured out that this technology had military and law enforcement applications to enhance their warriors' physical capabilities and push the boundaries of military might.

Eventually, maugmentations were used for all sorts of applications that have permeated daily life. Granted, magitech is still expensive enough that most people can't afford it outright without going to the black market.
