Tanadszomo Mountains
The Tanadszomo Mountains are a range of mountains splitting the continent of Natua between Tajj Neta to the north and the Kyonyita Desert to the south. They are old-world mountains, with very little tectonic activity. Nevertheless, they are quite tall, reaching above 3000m in most places, with the highest peaks between 6-7000m. The Tanadszomo Mountains are not home to many, although there are the so-called "hill tribes" that exist there, under the rule of the Tajj Netan government.
Geography
The Tanadszomo Mountains are jagged, and impassable in many places due to difficult terrain caused by vertical cliffs, avalanches, and rockslides. Most who travel directly across the Tanadszomo Mountains use ancient tunnels that have been there long before the hill tribes of today, and whose origin none are certain of. In addition to being rough and difficult at higher elevations, the lowest elevations of the mountain range consist almost entirely of hot desert, which contains little life and is just as difficult to pass. As a result of these difficulties, scarcely any trade passes through Tenedzum and those who live there mostly govern themselves.
Climate
The Tanadszomo Mountains contain an array of climates, from the hot deserts of the northern and southern lowlands, to the humid subtropical jungles of the east, to the alpine forests and scrubland found throughout the higher regions. Most who inhabit the mountains live in the alpine forests above 3,000 meters.
History
Historically, the Tanadszomo Mountains have not been ruled by any single entity. A spattering of simple tribes have contested ownership of the land, and this continues into the present day. However, with the recent expansions of Tajj Neta, the Tanadszomo Mountains have fallen under the political domain of their southern neighbor, halting many of the conflicts and bringing a shaky peace to the region. Due to the complex political history of the Tenedzum, Emperor Lyanok of Tajj Neta has declared the region an autonomous territory of the empire, collecting taxes from its citizens and enforcing peace with its military, but allowing them to dictate their own laws and form their own government.
