Mental Magic
Due to stigma, the knowledge of mental-based magic has shrunk over the centuries to the point that the branch is one of the smallest and has but two categories: magic that affects a spellster’s own mind, and abilities that involve the manipulation of another’s mind.
The second type is one of the hardest of all magics, with many techniques frowned upon, if not outright outlawed. As such, those who are known to have control over these abilities are typically treated with a measure of caution.
Most of these abilities don’t just affect a person’s perception of the world, but also leave physical scarring on the brain. Some of this can be partially mended by a healer proficient in ailments of the mind, but many are irreversible.
