Tracurry, Shottesbrooke & Newton Junction Railway
The Tracurry, Shottesbrooke & Newton Junction Railway (formerly the Great Southern & North Midland Joint Railway) was a joint railway on Etorea. The line was owned by both the Great Southern Railway of Etorea and the North Midland Railway. The line was built to compete with the Great Northern & Southern Railway's dominance on North - South express trains.
The line was opened as the Great Southern & North Midland Joint Railway, it ran from Whitwell on the North Midland Railway to Pendley on the Great Southern Railway of Etorea, the company later gained running rights over the Bereoir Railway as far as Dunkirk Station. Their rolling stock was initially provided for them on a two year deal, giving the company enough time to purchase their own locomotives, wagons and coaches.
