SE&NSCR № 23

South Etorea & North Sea Coast Railway № 23 was a Manning, Wardle 0-6-0ST that was built to shunt the colliery at Crofton. The locomotive was built originally for the contractor T. B. Driscoll Railway Contractors.
The locomotive was purchased from Driscoll after the branch line to Crofton Colliery was completed, he had been employed to build the line with № 23 (ex - "Ottoman") being one of the locomotives used during the contract. She ran under SE&NSCR until the company was merged with several others to create the Etorean National Railways, with Crofton Colliery becoming it's own seperate company. She was then renumbered to CCC №0 and was used to shunt internal coal trains aswell as taking them to an exchange yard. She was joined in the 1930s by a Bagnall 0-6-0ST, the pair ran under Crofton Colliery Co. ownership until it became part of United Coke & Coal Board №4 (Eyreshire and Ambion) Area, Crofton Colliery. She was renumbered to №1 and ran until her withdrawal and scrapping in 1952.
