Moorcroft C Type
The Moorcroft C Type was an Etorean motorbus built by the Moorcroft Company. It saw widespread by omnibus companies throughout the first two decades of the 20th Century.
The C Type was a 1 - Door, Step Enterance double decker bus, it was powered by a Moorcroft E2 M4 four-cylinder inline that produced 37 brake horsepower. It drove the rear set of wheels through a 4 speed gearbox.
The C Type was constructed between 1909 and 1912 with the type being mosly found in Redwick as it had the largest bus network in the country at the time allowing for ample operational potential in the city. Some were also delivered to other cities whose bus operators were beginning to make the switch over to petrol traction. The ealiest users were the Redwick General Omnibus Company (RGOC) who mostly used them on Redwick Bus Route 1 and Redwick Bus Route 17 due to them carrying the heaviest traffic.
The C Types began to be displaced in 1928 with the arrival of Maudsley ML3 motorbuses imported from England. Several were sold to smaller town councils. Most had been scrapped by the 1940s.
