Dorian Chevalier
Dorian Rolland Chevalier (10th March 1786 - 29th September 1879) was an Etorean arms designer and creator of the Chevalier Rifle.
He was born in Blackwood to parents Martha and Leonard Chevalier in 1786, he grew up in a relatively working class household. This is especially apparent as he began work at age 14, first at a flour mill then to Mr. A Barton, a clock repairman and blacksmith. At age 20 Chevalier moved to Knightsbury to find employment where he joined the Knightsbury Small Arms Company, he initially helped to create the rifleing of the barrels. In 1809, he married Connie (née Cooper) who he met while visiting a sick friend's house two years prior. The pair had 6 children, two of which didn't survive into adulthood. In 1841, Chevalier heard talk about the dreyse needle gun then being used by the Prussian Army, having heard the woes of the caplock muskets then being used by the Etorean Army he set about designing his own needle-fire rifle for use by the Etoreans. 1841 also brought around another intersting event for him, after initially being skeptical and quite scared of them Dorian and his Wife rode a steam hauld train for the first time on their yearly holiday.
Chevalier retired in 1850 at age 64, him and Connie moved to Kilclare in West Etorea where they lived out their twilight years. It was here he developed a love for fishing aswell as holidaying in the Scottish Highlands. He died in 1879 aged 93.
