Overview
Ereshkigal is the goddess of sickness, blight, pestilence and infertility. she gains power from the suffering of mortals.
History
Prior to creation, and partway through the first age Ereshkigal had been a neutral deity (some would say leaning towards good).
She was the consort of Callenish-Ur and she had been instrumental is the creation of the elven race.
The arrangement between her and her husband had been that he would be the primary god of the elves in their mortal stage and that she would receive their souls in the netherworld of her domain.
As it became apparent that their joint creation will not die unless harmed, she became absolutely livid. she felt betrayed by her spouse and gradually her disposition toward the mortals of the world became dark.
She toiled hard on creating different ailments, and even though other mortals were dying by the droves, the elves weren't being affected.

Ereshkigal is a generally feared in the mortal world, and even a mere mention of her name is thought to bring ill omen.
Though venerated by a number of small cults throughout the land her seat of power is the settlement called Convent of Pestilence .
