The Wounded Knee Massacre occurs in the Dakota territory against the Sioux Nation. Chancellor Thomas F. Bayard and King Edward II condemn the actions of the natives, while granting the Medal of Valor to many of the soldiers. The massacre effectively ended the Sioux Wars.
