Second Mexican Empire

The Second Mexican Empire is a nation in North America, bordering the Kingdom of America and Gran Colombia.

History

Following the War of Mexican Unification, Antonio of Catrachia announced the formation of the Second Mexican Empire, conquering the Republic of Mexico and incorporating the United Mexican States in 1934. The global response was mixed, with America having conflicting reactions, but was immediately recognized by Gran Colombia.

Antonio pressed claims on British Honduras from Great Britain, all the while Colombia claimed British Guiana. America under James I attempted to mediate, with Antonio citing the Continental Ordinance despite the Second Empire and Gran Colombia not having signed it. All parties accused James of colluding with the other, and negotiations broke down.

Mexico attempted to mend relations with America by agreeing to sign the Continental Ordinance if America agrees to renegotiate ownership of the Nicaragua Canal. Mexico also used these terms in their admittance into the Pan-American Confederation, which America agreed to after the Battle of Guam. Mexico declared war on Great Britain, entering the World War, and invaded Belize, annexing it into the Empire.
