Kalimantan
Kalimantan was a nation in the archipelago of East Indies. It was greatly influenced by the government of the Empire of Japan. It bordered the Malayan States under the protection of Great Britain.
Culture
Kalimantan has a culture and identity similar to the Malayan States also found on the island of Borneo. As such, there have been calls from nationalists to expand the territory to create a national Bornean nation. These calls come mainly from anti-colonial parties seeking to rid Asia from European influence.
History
Due to the terms of the treaty ending the The Great War, Japan was forbidden from occupying the nation due to being on the losing side, and instead began to establish a puppet regime. The idea to keep the archapelago seperate was an act by Japan itself in order to make the region more manageable. Kalimantan came under the rule of the Pontianak Sultanate.
Following the Russo-German War, the Sultanate of Kalimantan agreed to sign the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere, though to a great amount of cohersion from Japan.
