Bermuda Triangle
The Bermuda Triangle is an area in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the Kingdom of America that holds the legend of being a place of supernatural phenomenons and unexplained disappearances.
Geography
The area that comprises the Bermuda Triangle sits in between the island of Bermuda, Miami, Florida in America, and San Juan, Puerto Rico in the Kingdom of Haiti.
Localized Phenomena
The area has been speculated to be the site of numerous lost voyages of ships and aircraft for centuries. The area of the Bermuda Triangle grew in infamy as a haunted location following the World War and the Battle of Bermuda between America and Great Britain. Many superstitions exist believing the ghosts of the sailors lost within the Triangle capture stray ships and aircraft, bringing them down into the depths. However, the Triangle has been shown through studies to not have any increased number of disappearances as compared to other regions. The disappearances that do occur have been attributed to abnormally strong winds and currents, as well as pockets of natural gasses under the ocean floor.
History
The legends regarding the Bermuda Triangle date back as far as the 15th century, where it was believed Christopher Columbus saw dancing lights over the ocean. Disappearances began to be recorded in the 19th century, with a collection of unsolved and unexplained incidences being made in the 1950's. The term "Bermuda Triangle" itself was coined in 1964.
During the World War, the Bermuda Triangle played host to a major and devastating battle between the American and Royal Navies, which became the largest naval battle in the Atlantic during the war. The battle effectively crippled the Royal Navy, but severely damaged the American Navy to the point of the planned blockade of Europe was postponed.
I love how this turned out!
