Queen Fortune Doomfall, II (a.k.a. The Lawgiver)
After the Night of Terror, Fortune Doomfall allied with the Northern cult of Skurinorn to secure arcane reagents, and ensured the prosperity of the Kingdom; but their death came with a second Affliction, entire harvests turning to ashes. The people turned to Queen Fortune II hoping for another saviour.
Having studied the announced calamities since childhood, Fortune II knew the entire world was at risk; it was obvious to her that it was necessary for the powers of Celesth Ath to band together in the Kingdom's defense, and that its wealth should be put toward fighting the coming doom.
Facing the Ashen Harvest in the here and now, some commoners resented the Crown's long view, and resorted to desperate measures to feed themselves. Piracy exploded in the The Coast.
As rovers decimated the feeble Navy, Fortune asked for an audience with the self-proclaimed 'Pirate-Queen', hoping to reach a peaceful agreement; but this didn't materialize, and Fortune's duty was too important for her to elope with the seductive marauder. The piracy issue went unsolved, and the Patricians of the Coast fortune fell.
Despite this, the Kingdom overcame its setbacks, and the Navy was successfully rebuilt. With the Queen's sponsorship, peppers, which resisted the Ashen Harvest, took the Kingdom by storm, ending the famine. The regions coordinated to strike beneficial trade deals, and enough offerings were stockpiled for the protective ritual.
In spite of the general spirit of cooperation, secret plots were hatching. Criticizing Fortune II's diplomatic approach, Chief Lumi Wash convinced a few co-conspirators to quest for the mythical Horn of Odheld.
Using the power of the legendary Horn, Lumi Wash's followers razed the Palace, then searched through the rubble to finish the Queen off. To the end, Fortune tried to reason with her assailant, in vain. As the axe fell, bodies of water across the Kingdom began boiling: a third Affliction -destined to be Lumi Wash's concern, now.
