Scorchlander

Bronzed by a scorched horizon, Scorchlanders are a branch of humanity most at home beneath the blazing skies of the western deserts. Known to some as "Sundevils", they carry the heat in their blood and the dust in their veins, survivors, traders, wanderers, and warriors who thrive where shade is a memory and water a prayer.

Physical Description

Slighter of frame than their northern kin, Scorchlanders move like heat shimmer on water, quick, fluid, and watchful. Their skin bears the bronze of endless sun, while bright eyes gleam beneath lashes bleached by sand and sun. Hair, often silvery or sun-blonde, catches the light like desert glass. Though rarely towering, most stand between 4.5 and 5.5 feet tall, their wiry forms weighing no more than 150 pounds, lean bodies shaped by heat, hunger, and hard travel.

Personality

Scorchlanders tend to value personal freedoms above all else. They don't tend to get along well with rules, regulations and religions, and as a result have a reputation as social misfits and are often found in more adventurous professions. Despite this however, they are highly creative, making them natural-born traders and skilled weaponsmiths. Honest to a fault, laughing in the face of manners, moderation and anything sensible, they make loyal friends, passionate enemies, and are great fun to drink with.

Ideology

Many follow the ways of New Imperialism so long as they are at the top of the food chain. This is more born from complacency than a true belief in social hierarchy. Scorchlanders are a rowdy bunch and make for troublesome slaves, over time this has led them to many positions of power within the United Cities and it's affiliated guilds.

Relations

Scorchlanders hold no ill will toward other races and are among the most welcoming people on the moon of Kenshi. To them, life is already harsh enough without carving deeper divides. They care little for bloodlines, banners, or gods, only for those who can hold their own and share a drink by the fire. While they may mock the rigidity of the Holy Nation, the stoicism of the Shek, or the oddities of the Hivers, it is rarely done in true malice.
