Found in an abandoned carriage by Masan Rav when she was but 2 years old Darcy was adopted by the traveling Monster Slayer and trained as his protegee.
No matter how hard she tried, Darcy could not remember a single thing about her parents or any of her family. For as long as she could remember, she traveled the world and learned to fight monsters alongside her master, Masan. As a young child, Darcy had a certain fearlessness of monsters that worried Masan. She’d want to charge in and beat anything up with only a stick. People, however, were a different story. For reasons unexplained, Darcy has a crippling fear of people which makes it hard for her to actively be a part and contribute to any society. Masan also worried over this, having thoughts that she’d never marry and start a family of her own. Darcy can warm up to people over time. People may find it weird that despite her nomadic and monster hunting lifestyle she is well civilized and genuinely clean. When Darcy was 14, Masan became ill with what we now know as Tuberculosis. At age of 15, she and Masan were fighting a tough monster. Masan’s illness was making it harder for him to contribute to the battle and Darcy was fighting the thing on her own. Having little experience with this particular beast, Darcy found herself pinned in a matter of minutes. Masan rushed in and pushed the monster back. As weak as he was, he told Darcy to run and leave him. His final words to her were this. “You are no match for this beast. Run. Live your life and don’t worry about me, for I am already dead. Thank you for letting me live a second time.” The beast then pierced it claws into Masan, ending his life. Darcy, in a fit of anger, slayed the beast and burned Masan’s body in honor of his life. After her master’s death, Darcy set out on her own. Curious about her family, she tried to gather any clues she could to find them without confrontations with strangers. Deep in her heart she knew that her blood relatives could never replace Masan Rav as her true father.
