The Lichan Empire

The Empire of Lichan started as a rather small kingdom of predominantly elves. However, as elves interacted more and more with the other races, most with significantly shorter lifespans, they began growing concerned for their fellow humanoids. They had the luxury of a long lifespan, but all others could only enjoy life for so small amounts of time. It simply wasn't fair, so the elves decides they would make a world where all could enjoy life to the fullest, especially if your time with it was so very short.   This resulted in many social programs and changes for the non-elven people of their kingdom, and it was not long after that a neighboring nation, seeing the prosperity given so freely in Lichan, asked the kingdom for help in dealing with a drought that had caused a food shortage. The elves happily supplied, for their kingdom flourished, and it was here that the kingdom perhaps went too far for some people. Seeing how the nation managed itself, the elves deemed it insufficient. This poor performance in keeping their people healthy and happy simply could not continue. Though the ruling family protested, public support simply wasn't in their favor, and soon the nation would see itself becoming part of the new empire. The family was allowed to stay in power in this region of the empire, though under the Eternal Emperor.   This practice only continued, resistance being met not only with elven warriors, determined to help their less fortunate humanoids, but also frequently the populaces of the nations who were more than happy to receive the help of the empire.   The empire now stands as the largest nation on Joia and is currently looking at Roz, who has shown interest in joining the empire before and does share some of its cultures.

Culture

The core belief of Lichan is that the luxury of an elven lifespan should be something that all people should be able to enjoy. This has still not been quite achievable, so they have settled for simply improving the lives of non-humanoids within their expansive empire. This has resulted in the elven populace of the empire showing a lot of often unwanted pity towards the rest of the world and sometimes taking over nations if they don't believe that the current rulers are treating the people well enough.

Public Agenda

The public agenda of Lichan is to improve the lives of humanoids until all can get as much joy in their limited lives as an elf can get in their vastly longer life.

History

The Kingdom of Lichan was formed not long after the fall of the Most Triumphant Emperor as elves had suffered heavy losses in their population. They found quite a fertile land and soon prospered. This allowed them to help the neighboring nation of Froth in their time of need, eventually taking over the country when they deemed the rulers unable to make their people prosper. This habit of helping and eventually making other nations part of their empire continued through three millennia.

Demography and Population

The largest population within the empire is most likely Elves. They are mostly found on the eastern coast of the empire but can be found elsewhere.   The second-largest population is most certainly the half-giants. Some true giants can be found, but it is mainly the smaller variant, commonly known as goliaths or firbolg. They occupy the largest swath of land, the entire middle of the empire, but are a lot more spread out with some areas never actually seeing anyone living there.   The northern part of the empire is mainly compromised of orcs, with the south-east having some dragonborn and the west and south-west having a noticeably dwarven population.

Military

When it comes to the majority of the empire's army, is mainly formed from recruits from the different provinces within the empire. They are usually stationed within the provinces but can be called upon if necessary. The commanders, as well as special forces, are however mainly compromised of elves. Having several more centuries of experience can be rather hard to beat.

Religion

The state religion is the Creed of the Major Gods, as it is within all nations apart from Shemlar. The church itself doesn't hold that much power and is mainly seen as a place for which everyone can go to give prayers or get aid from the priesthood. All priests of the empire have in fact sworn to heal others whenever possible, within reasonable constraints. Religion is otherwise a very free concept in the empire, with most people praying to one or several smaller Gods or gods. There is a certain taboo against death cults in whatever form they come, but as long as outsiders aren't actually killed, they are perfectly legal.

Foreign Relations

The empire tries to have generally friendly relations with their neighboring states but has a strained relationship with both the Theocracy of Shemlar as all other nations do as well as the Free Cities. The latter is more because of specific city-states than the federation in general.
