Dianera
"Dianera is a large country. Her borders encompass a million souls. She has to be protected, beggar the cost." — Conrad to Aevis
Structure
Dianera is made up of both common people and landed gentry. Under King Semia, the nobility held less power and influence and only three members of the noble class were on the Royal Privy Council. The current Royal Council was formed after the signing of the Dianeran treaty with the G'bu and Teufle under Queen Aevis' rule.
The Royal Council is currently made up of representatives from the major noble houses in Dianera, along with representatives from the G'bu and Teufle peoples:
- Calary, Count of Warick
- Hoster, Duke of Rutledge
- G'inni, Elder of the G'bu Dog clan
- Zhin, Elder of the Crow G'bu
- Xichulsura, Grand Elder of the Sundrake Teufle
- Allia Crix, Quickclaw of the Moondrake Teufle and diplomat
Culture
Dianeran's culture is a mix of her history and her values. War shaped much of the country, starting with the diaspora of the elves (sometimes referred to as the "Expulsion") and most recently the tensions with the radical elements of the G'bu people.
Dianerans are a tenacious lot, valuing endurance and grit. The recent chaos with the Hellgates has left many people wondering what kind of future the country will have under their new ruler, Queen Aevis.
History
Dianera was at first nothing more than a few human settlements on the continent of Ta'Ish. The continent was then predominantly ruled by the elves, who were known for their prosperity and magic.
When a famine broke out, the humans begged for aid from their elvish neighbors, but were refused. The famine worsened, with many people dying. Finally, as tensions rose, a group of men stole food from the elves' granaries to being back to their people. Enraged, the elves retaliated and publicly executed three humans. This kicked off a war that would last 30 years, with the humans pushing back and finally claiming old elvish territory as their own.
Initially, the elves rallied around a single leader: Icenica, the widow of a clan leader and elder. She brought the elves close to victory, until she was assassinated by one of her lieutenants, Irathius. After he himself was killed, the elvish host dissolved and was handily defeated by the now-united human army. The elves were forced to abandon their old towns and retreated into the primordial forests of Ta'Ish.
With newly-conquered land, the humans set to work creating towns and cities of their own, starting with the capital: Tregaron. Classes began to form, with powerful veteran warriors from the Expulsion becoming vassal lords. The first true Dianeran king brought these warlords to heel, and they swore fealty to him and his heirs. Thus, the small country of Dianera had a king and was united, gradually expanding its borders to unclaimed territory and through occupation.

The Many and the None's cult emerged in the early days of Dianera's formation. It grew with the human population,
Cosmological Views
The religion depicts the God of Many and None as a deity that encompasses both the world and the void; creator and destroyer. Dawn bring creation while Dusk brings death and renewal. One cannot live without the other and thus the god’s aspects are worshipped almost uniformly. The god is meant to encompass all aspects but sacrifices, benediction, and prayer can be made to a specific aspect.

Legislative Body
Judicial Body
The court system in Dianera is based on a circuit of local magistrates and a higher court that sits in capital city, Tregaron. Decisions in the high court are made en banc by a panel of appointed judges. Lower court decisions are passed down by a magistrate.
Common local disputes revolve around land and mostly civil matters. However, the war of succession and civil strife has disrupted the magistrates' ability to administer law and order.
