Dwarf - Hill

Legend tells of two dragons who went West after the founding. There they discovered the Dwarves who were still discovering their new form after emerging from the roiling earth. The dragons could see the potential in their strong, compact and long lived forms. The first dragon, brimming with knowledge in the ways of crafting and smithing, declared that the Dwarves would be ideal for the rigors of mastering the ways of the forge and workshop. The second dragon, brimming with knowledge of war and honorable combat, scoffed at the notion. Stating that such a rugged and durable form combined with a stubborn streak would wasted in labour, the second dragon stated that the dwarves would become masters of the sword, spear and bow under his wing.   The great debate between the two is said to have lasted 5 long years before they reached a compromise. The two dragons would work together to uplift the Dwarves in the art of creation and war. But even as they began their endeavor each dragon began to hold gatherings in secret with their most devout disciples. There they extolled the virtues of their knowledge over the the teachings of the other dragon. This continued over many years until the divide among the dwarves was clear even in the light of day. Clans began to declare allegiance to their favored patron, denouncing those that would not do the same. The dragons could see where their teachings and the stubbornness of the dwarves would take them. The dragons agreed to split up the dwarves, those that stayed in their ancestral home land being called Hill dwarves.
