Illyiac

Illyiac was born to Lily and Algar Dumitrenteau in Hollow Oak under the reign of Zarcius Hallheart. Their union was particularly scandalous and interesting because Algar was a Drow. Most elves' affections for humans quickly burn out, but the love between Algar and Lily was so fiery that they were married within 6 months of meeting. Lily was a deeply loving mother and wife, and provided entrenched stability for the young Liac who loathed to be with his father Algar.   Algar was dismissive of Liac, often leaving him alone in the busy streets of town, or disappearing when it was time to watch over him. Algar would often say he felt shackled by Liac's existence and would hold his mother's feelings above Liac's head saying that if he told her how he felt that the heartbreak would "Crush her very soul." When it wasn't cold dismissiveness, it was crazed ravings. Algar would often isolate Liac in order to question him on the moon, spiders, and "The call of destiny". Such ramblings were often sprinkled with mentions of Liac's worthiness to fufill such a grand task, and what and honor it would be to take Algar's place. Inevitably when the young Illyiac failed to comprehend what his father was saying Algar returned to the disappointed distance that characterized most of their interactions.   Like all children though Liac sought the approval of his father, and took a deep interest in astrology, astronomy, and religion. He would spend a large amount of his time at the Authicary and never missed a sermon from Authicarian Fescue. His mother Lily further indulged her sons interests, buying him star gazing equipment, books on the stars and moon, as well as providing regular donations to Authicarian Fescue. She would even pay a few scholars who based through the town on the way to Eastrin to tutor Illyiac. This no doubt incentivized Fescue to take Liac on as an apprentice, not only to keep the donations flowing but also because Liac was already well attuned the scholarly mindset.
