Folgard
Folgard encompasses the entirety of the northeast and the easternmost half of Danuria. Within its borders, Folgard boasts three notable geological features: the Spires of Eldrak, the Barren Plateaus, and the Scarred Chasms.
The Spires of Eldrak stand as the grandest mountain range in Danuria, with awe-inspiring peaks that reach staggering heights. These majestic mountains are not only a sight to behold but also rich in valuable minerals and metals such as gold, iron, and gemstones. The economic power of Folgard is greatly influenced by these bountiful resources, and consequently, the kingdom is home to some of the finest blacksmiths and jewelers in the land.
Mt. Ire, Folgard's capital, sits on one of the highest peaks in the Spires. It is by far the most advanced city in Danuria, with trolleys and other transportation supported by a large network of cable cars and pulleys to different districts. Some of these cable cars even stretch between mountains, allowing fast travel between the peaks and valleys of the Spires.
The Barren Plateaus, a marvel in itself, sprawl across vast expanses. The plateau is adorned with a collection of mesas and buttes that grace its surface, culminating in an escarpment that dramatically drops towards the surrounding regions. While the natural beauty of the Barren Plateaus is undeniable, the land itself is hot and arid, making it unsuitable for the establishment of large settlements. Native tribes, albeit sparse, have managed to call this region home. The imposing plateau was formed as a direct result of The Rending.
Stretching south from the Barren Plateaus, The Scarred Chasms unfold. This relatively flat land bears the scars of the past, with haphazardly scattered fissures marking its surface. These deep fissures were also born from The Rending. Some crevices reach such depths that they expose the subterranean caverns known as Chthonis, a treacherous underground network that lies beneath Danuria. The sudden drop in altitude brings a cooler temperature to the Scarred Chasms, but the residual magic from The Rending has resulted in this region becoming inhospitable and treacherous.
Folgard shares borders with Gelusia, Calduria, and Paludia, giving it access to blubber, furs, wood, and medicinal herbs. That paired with their lucrative mining business allows them to almost rival Calduria in size and economic power.
