The Followers of Mystra were once relegated to the treacherous island of Vespia, but have now taken most of the territory of Orion from New Spanalia. They fight bloody skirmishes to this day.
Conquest
Orion was a government formed by The Followers of Mystra, a religious group that was formed in Vespia during the Bronze War. During the war, they were well-known for their zealous admiration for all magic, regardless of the way it was used, and their lust for land and power. They fled to the island of Second Sun where they captured territory from New Spanalia and formed a more stable government structure under the name Orion.Life in Orion
A life lived under the Followers of Mystra is driven by one thing: Arcane power. The life of a citizen of Orion is largely dependant on your Arcane ability; a high elf who can cast sleep may be employed as a somnologist for a wealthy noble, while a tiefling with no arcane ability might be drafted to fight as cannon fodder in a conquest. Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
Elections
At the beginning of every decade, or when the President is slain, an election for a new President is called. The Nine, the highest ranking of The Supreme College of Mages, each elect a cantidate. Each cantidate is given a chance to demonstrate their arcana proficiency on death row inmates. Afterwards, the College meets together and each makes a vote for the President in the Antimagic Field of the Icosagon Defense Building, and a new President is elected. In the case of a tie, the relevant cantidates must battle for the position of President in an arena chosen at random between the choices of the Nine. The cantidate to perish last is resurrected and elected as President.
