Boralsh
The rocky deserts to Idiari's northwest are dry and barren through winter, spring, and summer, but in autumn the rains break through. The Boralsh tribe makes the desert their home, taking advantage of the seasonal bloom to both farm and gather enough food to last them through the sparser dry months, when only small patches built near oases and groundwells produce water. While some limited aqueducts from the eastern Fourant river have allowed some parts of the desert to produce food much more consistently, these projects have largely been spurned as inauthentic to their heritage.
Like the Oreush, much of the Borald tribe's wealth derives from the fact that many valuable spices only grow in the specialized conditions of the seasonal desert. Additionally, the desert houses the Idiari Boys' Academy for the Art and Science of Spellcraft, which instructs male students on becoming scriveners.
The Boralsh constitute the smallest portion of the population of Idiari, narrowly less numerous than the Colánsh.
As of the 656 census, 646,891 people identified as Boralsh or Borald-Loush.
