SE05 : EP28 - New Mining Endevours

The kingdom of Tivs the largest suppliers of yams to the City and have specifically requested the Meridians to take a shipment of goods in for them. They requested them as they have not had as many interactions with them and have a follow on request after the trade mission.   They meet Wulf Goldbrick who has the wagons ready. After Allie exchanges rings with a Guild Signal and then Yith leads them into the portal. She is the ranking Meridian and as such in charge of the mission. An guild entourage escort the supplies with them as they make the hour's journey to the main city.   As they aproach large fields of crops stretch out for miles and divided by long aqueducts converging into the city nestled in a horseshoe canyon. They are greeted by Liam who is the liaison between Tivs and the Horizians. The guildsmen take care of the delivery as they go off to learn the details of this special mission. The city is very well kept, clean, and tranquil. Water is carried in and out through ducts smartly engineered throughout the buildings. As they reach the northern edge pf town where they see a mining operation. The kingdom has been attempting to expand the city into the rock they had miners attacked. Liam hopes that the Meridan's can solve the problem. He mentions other then the occasional animal attack they aren't equipped for such monsters. When pressed the details are vague and other then being a Suprise and the assailants being bipedal. Also Laim says the party is welcome to any spoils they find along the way and thanks them in advance.   A large reinforced barricade in placed in front of the mine's entryway. Its rolled out of the way as they enter and replaced when they all lowered into the cart lift. They are lowered and arrive they face a track leading to a l-bend to the left. The corridor is lit by everbright lanterns every ten feet. As they turn the corner, they see a corpse. Yith and Allie sneak up the body and see its a woman that's been cut down and they a stench rolls into their nostrils. The pungent reek attacks their senses. The cart track extends on but is partial blocked by and abandoned cart. But the smell seems to come from a pool of water to the side that sinks into he walls of the rock wall. As they look around Elnari allows them to communicate silently. A rock plops into the pool and YEñahkais hugs the far wall to hide. After a moment they still ness returns. She throws a stone into the water causing two troglodytes to burst from beneath the surface.   The party tries in vain to communicate and ends up in combat. After slaying two of them a third appears and is quickly knocked out by Allie . Cornelius orders is automaton Helper to pull the dead bodies away to get the smelly oil that clings to them further away. When they tried to awake the unconscious monster it shrieks. As Elnari attempts to communicate stronger and armored troglodytes rush in.   Adter they are dispatched they head down the tunnel to find a cart roundtable in a four-way room. Only the way to the south extends further in, a cave into the the north and a unfinished tunnel to the west. The stench ruminates from deeper in. they follow the smell to another group of the lesser monsters. Among them the remains of miners and their dog that were murdered after they put up a fight. After slaying them they find a number of gem strewn about.   They back track and head south. A passge forks off and has a sign marked "Beware Fungus, Do Not Enter." Allie's natural immunity given them the boldness to investigate and they find a set of bodies both troglodyte and townsfolk. Then some horrid creature begins to stir and causing the cat the retreat back to the group. They look around the other passages and find flooding and more connections tot he fungus room. On the last available passage they fins a waterfall feeding into a natural cistern. As they explor the edge of the water they see gems and coins spread around.   Suddenly an acidic rop lepas from the water and yanks Allie into the pool. A washtalyth bites into her. She escapes and returns to the edge and the reall fight begins. Yith is pulled down as the monster moves across the water. The party lays attacks into the creature. Cornelious with his crossbow, Elnari with his longsword, and Allie with darts.   Haggard but victorious they slay the collect the spoils. Identifying the deamon spawn as the likely source of corruption that allowed the troglodytes to fester. They confidently backtrack and mop up the remaining creatures in the tunnels before returning to the surface.   Liam is very thankful for the work they have provided. They are again to the keep whatever loot they found. Yith thanks him and makes the pledge that the Meridians always are happy to help friends of Horizon. With that they clean up and then head home.
