Kali and a great big dangerous hug
General Summary
Gimblenock reads the blueprints for designing and manufacturing the Loxodon-God armour with machine eyes and a machine mind (but not a tik-tok mind).
Draconic, devillish bellows dropping from level to level above, eventually reveals a black abashai (and not the extraordinarily whimpy versions in the Monsters of the Multiverse, but something at east 4x more powerful than those morons).
Letri Zohl calls out "Yoo-hoo, who's there? Where's Ophion?"
Shenanigans ensue, she reads Essen's mind, thanks him for revealing that they're after the Loxodon Pauldron (known owner Tranquil Mind", which she says, "I will get my possession back."
Essen casts the thorn spell, Grundark shoves here into the thorns, she rolls around in it taking damage and absoluetly lapping up the pain, including standing up and using two thorns to cut here cheeks - "outta here losers."
Realising that the Tethys Ruin, of which Letri Zohl is the leader (she is a Witch) once possessed the Pauldron in their Sacred Vaults ("repossessed" by Tranquil Mind is also being chased down by the BMG, she blows poison kisses and vanishes with her Abashai.
Emerging out of the the Loxodon Shrine, the BMG find the utterly shattered remains of four Spartoi, with twelve more watching from the heights of Kapok Trees surrounding the Shrine. Dwayne rages out and convinces the Spartoi that they're with Letri, and they flee.
The jungle closes in over the shrine and it it is once more invisible to the world.
Kali Tyranny is despairingly horrifying; filled with nothing but negative energy.
In a major market town named Ganget, the BMG explore the marketplace and Dwayne almost accepts an amulet from a hippy dippy old dude (later identified as a Great Old Ones Shaman) but Grundark sensibly stops him.
Majee, the "Spiritualist" identifies the problematic chakas of Gimblenock and Gimblenock and Essen Isillorn - trades are made :- including the gnome receiving genuine oil from a Phyrexi Prime and the elf receiving some space-mind bending asadhi mushrooms that grant her "insight" into the universe's mysteries. Essen drifts into the Void and at once feels, more then sees, a jagged rotting horm, thousands of miles in length above her. Dripping oblivion, the horn swings through the nothing of the Void, in places already penetrating into the Places with a fixed single unblinking eye fixed upon Holocene.
The Great Old One shaman is seen in the warm jungle river next to the encampment that night, tentacles exposed, grinning grimply as he disappears benath the water - you'll see him later I think.
There are armed Sheev Hobgoblin remnants in the area (they moved through collecting slaves as tribute for the Great Kali), Barbed Orc Orcs (Grundark is very angry re this), Armen Elves (vassal states of Kali), Fire Giants (tribes tributary to Kali) and spirits (ghosts, poltergeists etc). The Sheev Hobgoblins are the Grimbringer splinter faction led by Dukrelar Pierce who becomes very important later on (and he's sporting a wonderful pair of shades).
The BMG encounter the bloody remains of a skirmish between a small Guptarid Dynasty war band (about 500 or so) and a single Sheev Legion. This was in a remote jungle setting within Kali territory that borders the Guptarid. And most likely is a border lords attempted raid into Kali territory but was a total failure. The Sheev are terrifying, yet enticing for the BMG; but if they interfere what will befall the people once the BMG leave Kali?
The BMG tear apart a Nabasru demon that had only minutes before escaped the cruel bonds of a sorcerer that had summoned and controlled it, sending it out to kill his enemies before the Nabasru then consumed their souls for eternity. They also get some minor booty out of it. They learn nothing else. Pity.
Finally, the small regional capital of Ganget, bustling, ancient, faded and pretend restored glory. At the edge of a dry jungle, fading to seasonal wet-dry hills it is ruled over by Britarta, the Divine Moghul of Greater Ganget. This is a fabulously humid, colourful, dangerous city where even the BMG who have seen so much feel discombobulated. Its warlord is Kito the Solemn, its high priest is Ngol'kros the Pretty and its high magistrate is Vlad the Sympathetic. A standing population of 40,000 is swollen to 60,000 by daily travellers, merchants, slaves, slavers, workers and others.
A Carkade Doomscryer looms over the city, a "gift" of the Jaguar Carkade; Hill Giants and Fire Giants and Sheev Hobgoblins and Orcs and Lizardfolk and defeated Golden Horde Helegu warriors and even a sneaky black Abashai muzzle throng amid the stink and aroma and over-sensation that is Ganget, while towering holographic heads of beings unknown look down upon the city. And there! The Heralds of Kali! Bound Mystics who float among the people, bringing terror and clinging to the people, able to declare with a touch "Enemey of Kali" and strike upon a creature an undelible mark that all faithful of Kali shall see - and condemn the creature to living sacrifice to Kali (whatever that is, but dead is dead). And there - a tablaxi - is that TRanquil Mind? No, it is a broken creature known as Agile Veil, who reveals it once knew Tranquil. Acting quickly, Gundark poses as a wealthy Dwarve Slaver and bids for Veil - he wins - but only after incurring the undying wrath of Kito and almost, but not quite, calling out Kali as something to be spat upon (glad he rethought that one). Dashing through crowded streets and past the revered and sacred ancient shrine f Yeenoghu the Demon Lord of all that is Gnoll, the holy depository of the instructed Dypatl the Great Lord of the humble Aboleth and tolerant halls of Ouhezars Shoggoths, the BMG pay lots of gold to boot out families in well considered establishment, learn from Veil and thwart the immediate attempts of those theyve paid for rooms to spy upon them - but have to leave quickly nonetheless. Veil was responsible for stealing the pauldron that Tranquil returned to his people of the Blackwater Roar. Veil was too curious, and young and impulsive and meant no harm, but before he could return he was captured byDukrelar Pierce and his Sheev, the item taken from him as a gift to give from the Sheev to Yadari, the Tyrant of Kali. It is now in the protection of the Enlightened Row, the divine shrines of Kali, under the guardianship of The BMG are now responsible for Veil, who they know will try to return his people's sacred pauldron to his people. The pauldron is in Vedai Kali - the terrible capital of the Kali Tyranny . We go forth...
