Manaki
Galia's capital, this city was built across the face of the canyon walls, with platforms at different levels housing the city's residents, business and govermental buildings. Travel here is mainly done by flying around. For those who are unable to fly, paragliders and balloons systems are in place.
Government
While Manaki is the capital of the region, the ruler of Manaki and the rulers of Galia rarely interact with each other. Manaki is ruled, in a sense, by the richest person. While the citizens of the city do elect their ruler, in order to be considered for election, a candidate must give back a certain ammount of income to the city. Thus, most of the time, it is a matter of having enough money to both be considered, and bribe others to not run.
Defences
Manaki's defenses come both from its geographical location, as well as its technology. Being built on the side of the canyon walls has made the city a hard place to reach by foot. Any opposing force trying to march to the capital would be spotted from a great distance, and would have little to no way of getting any heavy equipment up the steep canyon walls. The natural winds of Galia seem to voilently shift around the city's perimeters. Anyone not prepared can be caught off guard and swiftly blown away. A proper arial invasion would need to be extremely well timed. Finally, along the top of the canyon, the city has its various manned anti-air weaponry, as well as ground crowd control weaponry. Anyone attempting to reach the city from atop the canyon will be met with deadly force before they even make it to the edge of the canyon. All these factors combined make it the safest place in Galia by far.
Industry & Trade
Most of Galia's income comes from its tourism, school and trade. Tourists are encouraged to gamble at the casino, spend money at one of the many shops and stay at the grand inns. Meanwhile, students generate income for the city by paying their course fees, housing fees and any class related materials. Finally, the city produces and ships out a vast number of the region's technological components, sending out vacuume tubes, gears and more to settlements all across the canyon.
Infrastructure
Manaki is known in the region not only for its platformed city structure, but also for its grand library, school and casino.
History
Manaki was originally founded on the ground, as the people of Galia found an abundance of resources in the caves around the area. However, as more and more people started coming, inhabitants began building up instead of out to stay close to the caves. Eventually, the resources began to dwindle, but the defendability of the location became apparent. Thus, the city remained and grew, with the ground levels eventually abandoned. It became Galia's capital almost 400 years after its founding, when it became the location of the signing of the Tyren Treaty.
