Hendrickson

Hendrickson is a planet whose atmosphere, flora, and fauna are often compare to that of Earth's Late Cretaceous period. There are a number of creatures that call the place home that resemble dinosaurs. There are rumors that the ancient Jotun once had a presence on the planet and left behind a ruined city of fabulous wealth like El Dorado. The thing that any vistor to the planet who can see out a window of the ship they arrive on is The Hole.   Hendrickson is a frontier planet that no large organization has claimed any ownership of. There are a few settlements on the planet which each have their own laws.  

The Hole

The Hole is a massively wide pit that can be seen from orbit located where the north pole of the planet would be. The Hole is a perfect circle and around it is The Borderlands, which are also perfectly circular. The Borderlands are a sandy desert and no life is known to exist there.   The Hole has a radius of 500 miles (around 804 km) and The Borderlands is another 500 miles beyond that. While you can observe it from orbit safely any attempt to get close always ends in disaster. No one has ever entered The Borderlands and returned to tell the tale. Many believe the place is cursed. Attempts to fly over vary in success and it seems flying at an altitude of at least 10 miles (around 16 km) is required to not meet an untimely end.  

El Dorado

Perhaps based in truth or perhaps based on needing an explanation for The Hole, people believe that somewhere on the planet is a magnificent ancient city. This city is alleged to hold the key to accessing The Hole without perishing and that this is the key to your greatest desires. One of the biggest rumors surrounding both El Dorado and The Hole is that the bottom of The Hole contains a great being which can grant any wish you ask of it. Some believe that a wayward member of the Jotun had a misguided, or perhaps misworded, wish which cause the mysterious disappearance of the entire species.  

Holt's Landing

Holt's Landing is the only settlement on the planet with a spaceport. No one really knows who Holt was or if they were even a real person. The settlement is led by Governor Pyotr Gavrilov, a former "employee" of Volkov Industries. The city is generally open to all vistors and few laws. That's not to say it is lawless, as the few laws that do exist are enforced by a private military force in the employ of the Governor. Most people who arrive at Holt's Landing are treasure hunters looking to score a lead on El Dorado. The citizens of Holt's Landing are protected from violence by outsiders by law, but outsiders do not have this protection. It is recomended for vistors to always be armed and be careful who you talk to.  

Edo

The second largest settlement on Hendrickson is led by a mysterious figure who only refers to himself as The Shogun. The Shogun has only ever been seen in public wearing a samurai styled mask, no one knows what he looks like. He arrived with a large number of followers, who were all SynthOrgs created from the same eight templates. The city has more citizens in it now who have moved there, mostly to hide from the law of wherever they fled from. These immigrants are mostly left to their own devices as long as they do not displease The Shogun. The Samurai act as both the military and police as needed and are entirely composed of SynthOrgs from four of the eight templates The Shogun uses. The other templates are used for The Servants who handle every other desire The Shogun has. The Palace is built from the ship that the initial group arrived to the planet on.
