Sikrek Worker's Rebellion
The Sikrek Worker's Rebellion is a civil war in the Kingdom of Sikrek started by Dina, the Martyr with some help by Kipilu of Tezitkal when the pair passed through the region on their adventures.
The rebellion is a brutal war between a coalition of indentured workers, illegally trafficked slaves, debtors, and poor enserfed laborers and the Sikrekan government. The workers demands are radical: the abolition of indenture and the inherited servitude, the radical redistribution of land and wealth in Western Sikrek, and the management of Sikrek's Western and Southern mines by workers communes. The government seeks to restore the highly unequal status quo.
This rebellion draws on about a century of growing exploitation and resistance, but has used the Apocalypse as a jumpstart. The leader of the rebellion, Zochek the Stubborn, was an indentured servant in the Sikrekan town of Tintev who had been looking for an opportunity to lead his work group to rebellion. Zochek was then added to The Network and given a substantial investment of Life Energy and authority within the Network. Zochek immediately set to work spreading The Network as an organizing tool.
At the exact same time that Dina and Kipilu helped Zochek accumulate power, the pair assassinated the local Lord Dumahl of Tintev as well as his immediate heirs. This sudden collapse of local feudal authority created immense confusion and chaos, which gave Zochek's group incredible manuevering room to build coalitions and move freely to nearby towns and mines. When the government reasserted local control, though, the new nobles immediately set to work attacking those who could be blamed for the destruction. At first, this was actually the family's elite enemies - unruly peasants couldn't possibly use advanced magic to infiltrate a fortress, kill a seasoned warrior, and slaughter a room of nobles. But, as Zochek's rebels worked more and more miracles in their effort to build a coalition, they attracted scrutiny.
While Zochek's group has been careful not to make any demands for political control that might violate Dina's Pact (which was formed weeks after the rebellion started), they have defended themselves very actively and have worked to consolidate their power in the fringes of the South and West of Sikrek.
