Religion Index
This is a listing of religions, with their basic beliefs, tenets, and callings.
There's a lot here, so it is recommended that you focus on single continent.
For a reminder of what each continent's "vibe" is, here's a brief summary to best locate what continent fits what you are looking for:
Keveket, a religion dedicated to Halcyon and her prophet Agamine the Lost. All about cold logic and "intellect".
The Hierarchy of Heksala, a mystical religion worshipping the God Tua through prophecy and travel
The Temple of Ishket, a warlike religion worshipping the God-force Ish, via its prophet Ishkibal. Paranoid and sees violence as worship.
The foreign religions that are growing among the commonfolk are both doomsday cults from Nafena:
- Samvara is a heaven-touched continent ruled by druid-lords who fight over these lush and rich lands in endless religious squabbles
- Desmia and Izekra are constant battlegrounds of interspecies war cursed by the Architects.
- Stildane is wasteland of magical radiation, with mortals building what they can despite it all
- Suneka is a land defined by a monolithic imperialistic culture-religion. The Sunekans strive for progress, technology, and democracy, but can be oppressive and are prone to infighting
- Inahng is a realm shaped by Architect-touched demigod emperors. A land of law, bloodlines, and ancient power.
- Larazel is a commercial mixture between Samvara, Sonev and Garadel, a merchant's paradise torn between tradition and plurality
- Garadel is a land of enchanting smiths but has a relatively short history. Trade, crafting, and intrigue abound
- Sonev is a bountiful land torn asunder by a cold-war of authoritarian states.
- Ekraht is a volcanic dragon-themed corporate wonderland
- Maradia is a land of magical construct-robots and fantastic machines, in an eternal silent class war
- Nafena is a piractical nest of artistic doomsday cults who fight for dominance
Stildane
The religions of Stildane are all about making peace with the chaos of that continent and finding a path to happiness in an eventual end of the world. There are a few possibilities:- Uvara, which is all about moderation, acceptance, and piety to many gods and spirits
- Kivishta, which is all about rejecting reality and waking up from the dream of the world
Uvara
Uvara is the worship of the Uvaran Pantheon, led by the antlered trickster-messiah God Ustav. Uvaran doctrine teaches that through prayer, sacrifice, loyalty to family, and moderation in physical pleasure, a person's soul can prepare itself to join Ustav's perfect utopia at the end of the world. Uvarans believe in all kinds of Gods and spirits, good and evil. They are taught to pay respects to any Good God that can help them and their community survive. Great emphasis is placed on the seasons, as Ustav dies every winter and revives every spring. Some Uvarans are led by Druids, but many others are led by paladins, preachers, and other people who can provide special skills for the community. Tags: Seasons, Nature, Community, Many GodsKivish
Kivishta is the belief that the world is just a dream and that you need to prepare your soul to wake up from it. Death is not enough, as this religion teaches that people reincarnate endlessly until they get the wisdom to awaken. Different sects have different ways of doing this: meditation, mystical rituals, education, even war. These different sects fight each other viciously for dominance, as each claims to be the one true path. Most Kivish sects are exclusive to Kobolds, though some are open to all species. Kivish dogma says that one day, a messiah will help everyone who isn't wise enough for enlightenment wake up. Tags: Individualism, Knowledge, War, Not About Gods, Species-SpecificEdervermt
Edervermt, also called 'Chaos Worship' or 'Wasteland Paganism,' is an umbrella term referring to a wide variety of mystical beliefs and rituals across the chaos wastes of Stildane. Many of these traditions revere local spirits and focus on appeasing or controlling the wild magic of the wastelands. Other religions tend to sneer at these traditions, but that doesn't stop many people from practicing these rituals alongside other religions. Tags: Local, Many Gods, Mysticism, Magic, SyncreticDesmia
Desmia's religions are all about whose side you are on in the endless war that rages on that continent. They tend to be species-specific and practical - more about team identity than belief. There are a few possibilities:- Orthodox Desmianism, a hyper-militaristic religion of humanity versus the rest of the world
- Ishkibism, a warlike religion of forgiveness and conquest
- Alkara, a religion of war and survival at any cost
- Zirun, a local faith of local gods
Orthodox Desmianism
Orthodox Desmianism is the belief that the rest of the world was shaped by Evil Gods - The Architects - and their servants, which must be destroyed to end earthly suffering. All good is part of The Struggle; The Struggle against evil is the meaning of life. Everyone who isn't a Human, Cat, Haltia, or Vesper is a demon or at least partially corrupted. If it is a demon, it must die. All the rest of the world must be put to the sword. All of society should go towards endless holy war. Orthodox Desmianism reveres the Ancestors, who watch from the sky as stars. Some Desmians also worship Gods; it isn't strict about who needs prayer, as long as you battle the demons. Tags: War, Species-Specific, Community, Prejudiced, Many GodsIshkibism
Ishkibism also believes that the world is ruled by Evil Gods, but believes that the Redeemer God Ishkibal can purify them and fix the world through a mix of forgiveness and war. Ishkibism believes that "demons" can be turned into people, and that evil humans can become demons. They prioritize Humans, Cats, Haltia, and Vespers as original people, but want to save the souls of the "demons" by converting them. Ishkibites scurry around across the continent, with spies and missionaries undermining every other faction. Many are led by paladins. Ishkibism is much more common in the neighboring continent of Izekra. Tags: War, Community, Missionaries, One Main God, Prejudiced, PaladinsAlkara
Alkara is the religion of the Desmian Dryads. This religion teaches that if these dryads, notably the Mathari Empire, are killed or driven from Desmia, the entire world ends and goes to Hell. So the dryads must fight at any cost, survive, and resist. Alkarans believe that humans ruined the world and must earn forgiveness through service and suffering. Alkarans worship Halcyon as the supreme God. Tags: War, One Main God, Community, Prejudiced, Species-SpecificZirun
Zirun is the loose pragmatic religion of The Feywilds. It is all around traditional rituals and sacrifices to the Gods of that land, and old stories of gods and spirits. These stories glorify courage, loyalty, family, and the sanctity of the Feywilds in the face of foreign invaders. Zirun's gods are not jealous, and this religion can be practiced alongside others. Tags: War, Local, Many Gods, Community, SyncreticIzekra
Izekra has lots of different religions from different places - it is kind of a battle royale of faiths. There's a few major options:- Traditional Ishkibism, a warlike religion of forgiveness and conquest that demands that people submit to the War God Ishkibal to be purified
- The Temple of Ishkibal the Dragon, another kind of Ishkibism that also preaches forgiveness under Ishkibal but believes that he is just one aspect of the supreme Dragon God who is purifying the world. Chiller and less prejudiced than Traditional Ishkibism, but connected to it
- Orthodox Desmianism a hyper-militaristic religion of humanity versus the rest of the world that seeks to conquer and raze this continent. A religion from Desmia trying to convert this place by violence.
- Halikvar is the druid-and-paladin-led war and nature religion of Halcyon, all about law and truth. A religion from Samvara that is trying to spread
- Prakahl is an Indigenous religion to tropical Izekra, all about revering the elements and using traditional rituals to connect with the Four Architects.
Traditional Ishkibism
Traditional Ishkibism worships the ascended ancestor-God Ishkibal as the chief God who will purify the world through a combination of holy war, purification rituals, and forgiveness. It teaches that the world was created by a pantheon of Evil Gods, the Architects, who are being purified by Ishkibal. Ishkibism reveres a pantheon of good ancestors and redeemed spirits as well as Ishkibal. Ishkibism believes that "demons" can be turned into people, and that evil humans can become demons. They prioritize Humans, Cats, Haltia, and Vespers as original people, but want to save the souls of the "demons" by converting them. Ishkibism puts particular emphasis on paladins and military leaders as leading religious communities. Tags: War, Missionaries, Community, One Main God, Prejudiced, PaladinsDraconic Ishkibism
The Temple of Ishkibal the Dragon is a major sect of Ishkibism that cares less about species and conquest, and more about the core message of purification, unity, and redemption for all mortalkind. It posits that Ishkibal is simply the mortal child/incarnation of the Divine Dragon, a supreme good God who lives deep under the city of Asalay and works to purify the world. Draconic Ishkibites still call themselves Ishkibites, even though they have their own dogma and priesthood. They work closely with Traditional Ishkibites to fight against other religions even though the two groups disagree frequently. Draconic Ishkibites still obsess over guilt and redemption and cultivate a martial aesthetic. Tags: Missionaries, Community, One Main God, Paladins, DragonsOrthodox Desmianism
Orthodox Desmianism reveres the Ancestors, who watch from the sky as stars. Some Desmians also worship Gods; it isn't strict about who needs prayer, as long as you battle the demons. Orthodoxy is foreign to Izekra and comes from Desmia. Orthodox raiders constantly invade the region. Tags: War, Species-Specific, Community, Prejudiced, Many GodsHalikvar
Halikvar believes that the Architect Halcyon is the greatest of all Gods and that the Lunar Goddess Lily of Red is her most accurate and devoted prophet. By following Lily's laws - minimizing harm, destroying evil, avoiding meat, giving to charity, and praying to the Good Gods - the faithful are to be rewarded with Heaven after death. The Halikvar believe that there can be no leniency in following God's laws and that the faithful have a duty to punish sinners in this life. The Halikvar are descended from the family of the prophet Lily of Red and see themselves as her natural heirs. They are all about intricate legal codes and personal betterment and education. They are militaristic, embracing Lily's role as God of War. They also are extremely driven to spread their religion to save souls. Halikvar is a foreign religion from Samvara. Tags: Druids, Paladins, Law, War, Nature, Missionaries, One Main GodPrakahl
Prakahl is a tradition indigenous to the tropical forests of Southern Izekra. This tradition venerates the Four Elemental Gods and the many spirits, ancestral ghosts, and local forces that dictate the rhythm of daily life. This religion is not interested in formal dogma or converting outsiders, but in maintaining the old ways and keeping the old rituals. Tags: Local, Many Gods, Nature, Community, SyncreticSamvara
The religions of Samvara are belief-centered and tend to focus on the great God Halcyon as a "top God". Druidic magic is often understood as a sign of priestly legitimacy. There's a wide variety here:- Pratasam is the druid-led nature religion of the Sky Goddess Halcyon, all about hierarchy, nature, and tradition
- Halikvar is the druid-and-paladin-led war and nature religion of Halcyon, all about law and truth
- Areto is the druid-led religion of the Sun and Halcyon, all about community and unity
- Ayshanism is the cleric-led religion of individualism and education, all about heady moral philosophy and certainty
- Sumoxa is the monastic wildcard religion, all about self-mastery and wild possibility
- Akadism is a quiet religion in underground cities, all about work and finding God in the practical
Pratasam
Pratasam believes the Architect Halcyon is the greatest of all Gods and that the Lunar Goddess Lily of Red is her most accurate and devoted prophet. By following Lily's laws - minimizing harm, destroying evil, avoiding meat, preserving nature, giving to charity, and praying to the Good Gods - the faithful are to be rewarded with Heaven after death. Pratasam is a hierarchical religion led by druid-priests. Pratasam is practiced in Samvara, Larazel, and Garadel. Pratasam is unique in how it divides its followers between high-class druids and low-class commoners. By submitting to these druids, commoners are given leniency in following God's law. All followers are known for wearing an iconic bow as a religious symbol. This religion seeks to spread to others and "save souls". The Pratasa love ancient traditions, festivals, horoscopes, and intricate ceremonies. They are very mystical and naturalistic, embracing Lily's role as God of Nature. Tags: Druids, Missionaries, Nature, Tradition, Control, One Main GodHalikvar
Halikvar believes the same basics as Pratasam: the Architect Halcyon is the greatest of all Gods and that the Lunar Goddess Lily of Red is her most accurate and devoted prophet. By following Lily's laws - minimizing harm, destroying evil, avoiding meat, giving to charity, and praying to the Good Gods - the faithful are to be rewarded with Heaven after death. Unlike the Pratasa, the Halikvar believe that there can be no leniency in following God's laws and that the faithful have a duty to punish sinners in this life. The Halikvar are descended from the family of the prophet Lily of Red and see themselves as her natural heirs. They are all about intricate legal codes and personal betterment and education. They are militaristic, embracing Lily's role as God of War. They also are extremely driven to spread their religion to save souls. Tags: Druids, Paladins, Law, War, Nature, Missionaries, One Main GodAreto
Areto shares the same foundational worship of Halcyon and Lily of Red as the others, but is less focused on just those two figures. Rather, they believe that Halcyon and her prophet are just the top two of a large pantheon of Good Gods that are fighting an army of evil Gods and demons. The Aretans emphasize community as the ultimate good and do all their worship in group settings. The Aretans are led by druid-priests, who are shepherds of the community who help them interpret prophecies and make oaths. There is a strong emphasis on charity and unity. The sun and light are seen as uniquely divine, and there is a strong emphasis on battling evil. Aretans essentially try to balance the elements of War and Nature seen in Pratasa and Halikvar. Tags: Druids, Sun, Community, War, Mysticism, One Main GodAkadism
Akadism is the religion of underground cities (called Kima Cities). This religion is all about worshipping the "Kim" or cosmic order of the world, and the four Architects that are each a part of the Kim. The religious leaders are all political and social leaders, rather than druids or clerics. Akadism is all about worship through work and obedience; doing one's job for the underground city correctly is required for prayer and divine connection. You are just a piece of a world-machine and you need to do your assigned task. That is the only way to Heaven. Tags: Work, Control, Order, Law, One Main GodAyshanism
Ayshanism worships Aysha, a sentient lighthouse and goddess of light, as the supreme god of the world. They preach radical equality and individualism and encourage everyone to find their own path to salvation by Aysha's light. Ayshans actively believe that all other religions are evil lies spread by evil Gods, and that only their way can free a soul. They are all about the sun, clerical magic, and lengthy sermons about moral philosophy. Ayshans talk a lot about critical thinking, consent-based agreements, and social equity, but their sermons can be quite judgmental. Tags: Clerics, Individualism, Sun, Missionaries, Knowledge, Only One True GodSumoxa
Sumoxa is a mix of the pro-Halcyon religions and Ayshanism: all Gods are correct, plus there's probably extra we don't know about. Sumoxan teachings argue that the world is chaotic and mystical and always changing, and radically reject any grand religious or scientific truth. The priests teach that people need to focus on their own personal discipline, tranquility, and kindness. Sumoxans often mix their beliefs with other religions or worship local nature spirits or folk gods. Many of their religious leaders are monks rather than druids, paladins, or clerics. Tags: Monks, Individualism, Mysticism, Shadows, Many Gods, SyncreticSuneka
The land of the Suneka has one main religion, with a handful of small deviations to that faith that are ruthlessly persecuted by the governing order:- Suneka is the main religion here. The Suneka demands total assimilation into the super-culture, but promises equality, democracy, and harmony in exchange.
- The Asuna Heresy is a useful splinter-sect for potential characters. This group preaches individualism, nature worship, and a return to a pristine state of nature. Not very good at converting people.
Suneka
This is the main religion here. The Suneka demands all people be one culture, follow one set of rules, and share a common language and way of living. The Suneka venerates the spirits of the world and specifically the harmony between these spirits. The belief is that all evil and all suffering will fade if all living things are in their correct order acting the correct way - following the true culture. The world-spirit of all life, or the Nema, may be tentatively regarded as a top God, but most worship goes towards the spirits of animals, plants, and places. More important is how one behaves than what one believes. The Suneka preaches that all things in their proper place are worthy of respect and should participate in major choices. For this reason, the Suneka believes that there is a divine mandate for democracy whenever possible. The religion calls for kindness, sharing, and equality between the faithful, though people outside of the religion must be converted. Tags: Many Gods, Community, Missionaries, Law, ControlAsuna
The Asuna Heresy is the hyper-naturalist splinter sect of Suneka, which believes that the true harmony of the world can be found in natural instincts and a pristine state of nature. This heresy is much more chill, individualist, and anti-authority, but tends to be bad at actually resisting the Suneka's power. Tags: Many Gods, Nature, Individualistic, HippieInahng
The land of Inahng is pretty slim on religions as well, with only a few major options:- Nedira, a law-oriented religion dedicated to The Chimera as the supreme God, is the top faith here
- Metena, an individualistic and mystical nature faith dedicated to Halcyon, is also present
Nedira
Nedira venerates The Chimera, often called Tishal or Tishalla, as the supreme God of the world and the ultimate source of justice and salvation. Nedirans are taught to obey their destiny, follow the law, correct injustices, build lasting structures to improve the world, respect the dead, and do good to others. If they do well enough, the Chimera will take their soul with them to the heaven of heavens when the world ends. All people have an inherent morality 'score' of sorts, which will be accounted for eventually to punish the wicked and reward the good. Nedira often puts great focus on bloodlines and many religious leaders are sorcerers directly descended from ancient demigods. The Lunar God of Order Jade Atharzen influences and leads this religion. Crocodilian dragons are a sacred form of God and a big symbol. Tags: One Main God, Law, Control, Sorcerers, Tradition, DragonsMetena
Metena is a religion in the Southern tropics, known for their worship of Halcyon as the supreme god with the Lunar Gods Lily of Red, Hiku the Muse, and Theia the Liberator as Halcyon's prophets. Great emphasis is placed on natural locations and nature worship, as well as individual mystical experiences. Metenans believe that Fate and Destiny are real but are inherently bad. They believe that through this religion, individuals can rewrite their Fates. Metena values charismatic leaders, who accumulate spiritual power by gathering wealth and followers. Druids, paladins, and other "strong" warriors and magic users often occupy positions of religious importance. Tags: One Main God, Individualism, Druids, Paladins, Bards, NatureSonev
Sonev is split between three big religions and a few small ones. These religions are often tied to grand empires. These include:- Navana, strict worship of Halcyon and Orchid of Blue, all about knowledge, discipline, and law
- The Church of Ekaza, a brutal religion dedicated to Halcyon all about conquering the world in her name
- The Followers of Elemeer, a philosophy of self-improvement that worships the Ocean-spirit and World-soul as examples to better oneself
- Mysteries of Esarat, a local religion in the cold Southern plains that frames a Mysterious God as the true object of worship.
Navana
Navana worships Halcyon as the supreme god and Orchid of Blue as her prophet. It preaches the value of order, education, law, and "progress" through technology and government. It calls for "civilization" - and Navana as the 'most civilized religion' - to spread, particularly into regions that are less wealthy or powerful. Navana preaches abstinence from drugs, alcohol, and non-married relationships, the value of personal discipline, and the need to obey good authority figures. It calls for its followers to seek knowledge to improve themselves and preaches than any person can be elevated to sainthood via learning and self-discipline. Navanans believe that "Utopia", a perfect world without pain, is the inevitable result of their religion's victory. Navanan-majority countries are infamous for encouraging people to spy on each other and police each other to enforce 'good behavior' at all times. Tags: One Main God, Law, Control, Civilization, Order, Knowledge, MissionariesEkaza
The Church of Ekaza is a militaristic religion led by the Demigod Empress Suwota, that worships Halcyon as the Supreme God and Suwota as her prophet. Ekaza preaches that the world is divided between good and evil, that only they are good, and that evil must be destroyed by any means necessary. The Ekazan Church conquers, enslaves, abuses, and indoctrinates, often turning to violence when dealing with "lesser peoples". Most of the rest of the world despises this group and condemns them as hateful and wicked. Tags: One True God, War, Control, PrejudiceElemeer
The Followers of Elemeer is a religion that worships the world-spirit, Elem, and fulfill the Elemeer - the meaning of life, which is to become your best and strongest self. Elemeer teaches that travel, self-improvement, meditation, and learning new skills are all moral and spiritual victories and encourages every person to always seek self-improvement and self-perfection. It is all about constant change and individual self-mastery more than it is about prayer or Gods. Elemeer is a popular religion for underwater species around the world. The ocean is central to Elemeer and the ocean-spirit Bava is seen as perhaps the most important manifestation of the world-soul. Water is movement and movement is life! Tags: Not About Gods, Syncretic, Individualism, SeasEsarat
The Mysteries of Esarat is a religion of the cold Southern plains that worships a nameless God known as the Great Mystery. It teaches that only the Mystery should be worshipped, as all other Gods are false and want to lead you astray. It is a tradition that values ancient rituals, community, and individual privacy. It teaches that life must be respected, knowledge should be sought, but that gossip is to be avoided and secrets are to be solemnly kept. Tags: Local, One True God, Mysticism, CommunityLarazel
Larazel is another continent with a lot of competing religions, many of which are from other continents like Samvara, Garadel, and Sonev. These religions include:- Zesheko, an insular religion native to Larazel. Xenophobic and suspicious of the world. Worships The Masked One.
- Hadina, a religion all about worshipping the dead and sacred spirits in items and places. Often overlaps with other religions.
- Pratasam a druidic Samvaran religion all about the worship of Halcyon.
- Zihari a religion that rejects all known Gods and spirits as evil and teaches that the world is ending. Worships the mysterious God Izikiro.
- Navana strict worship of Halcyon and Orchid of Blue, all about knowledge, discipline, and law
- The Followers of Elemeer, a philosophy of self-improvement that worships the Ocean-spirit and World-soul as examples to better oneself
Zesheko
Zesheko is an insular, xenophobic religion that teaches that their lands and communities alone are free from spiritual pollution. The Zeshem worship The Masked One as the supreme God, though they also worship many river and water spirits. The Zeshem infamously wear masks and use aliases when interacting with non-Zeshem, as they consider direct interactions with foreigners to be unclean. The Zeshem have a long-standing historical rivalry with the Selkies, who they consider to be particularly unclean and wicked based on historical selkie attacks on their homeland. The Zeshem also consider cleanliness and health to be spiritually important and focus a lot on cleaning, healthy foods, and medicine. Tags: Community, Control, Prejudice, Water, Death, One Main GodHadina
Hadina is the spiritual worship of ghosts, memory, objects, and other spiritual echoes of people. It is the belief in the energy of people and things given by labor and by worship. In Hadina, work itself is the most basic form of prayer and the key way to commune with the divine. Intense emphasis is put on the worship of ancestors. A state of "Hadi" or spiritual perfection through work and discipline, is considered desirable. Hadina has its own priesthood, temples, armies, and organized dogma, but isn't really incompatible with other belief systems. You can be Hadina and something else. They have their own word for the Creator God (or maybe Creators?), Imzira, but Hadina is vague enough in describing this God that many worshippers have room for others. Tags: Work, Death, Smithing, Not About Gods, SyncreticZihari
Zihari is a religion that believes that the Apocalypse began a long time ago and that only the devoted worship of the One True God Izikiro can allow you to escape the apocalypse after death. The Zihari reject all other gods and most spirits as dangerously corrupted, and only give small reverence to a handful of "safe" spirits. Zihari teach that salvation is all about individual learning and spirituality; only you can save yourself. They preach that dominating other people (including employing servants), lying, and ignorance are all deadly sins. They are very individualistic and encourage every believer to interpret the sacred texts in a personal way. This religion arrived from the nearby continent of Garadel - it originated deep in the Antarctic. Tags: One True God, Apocalyptic, Individualistic, Knowledge, MissionariesPratasam

- Hadina, a religion all about worshipping the dead and sacred spirits in items and places. Often overlaps with other religions.
- Saraka, a religion that worships the Fire Goddess Tira as the supreme God of forgiveness that will end the ongoing apocalypse. A splinter-sect of Zihari.

Saraka or Sarakism is a splinter-religion of Zihari that agrees that the world is being destroyed by an apocalypse but believes that the Fire Goddess Tira can heal that damage and preserve the world. Sarakism frames the world as ending and reviving in endless cycles that Tira protects mortals through. Emphasis is placed on forgiveness, discipline, and penance. Weniko is the local Indigenous religious tradition to the paradise island of Loanua. It is all about community ritual and custom, often tied to specific tribal or community identities rather than an overarching dogma. It is a way of life, a system of mediation, and a way of thinking - but it can co-exist with other more dogmatic religions. Tags: Community, Tradition, Local, NatureNafena
Nafena is a nest of doomsday cults, which has exported religions around the world. These include:- The Final Choir of Vetevism, a doomsday cult that wants to create the ultimate species that will take the chosen away to heaven while the world burns. Worships The Chimera
- The Singing Church of Orisha, a doomsday cult that believes that sufficient willpower and indoctrinated thinking can change or end the world, to bring about a utopia. Worships Halcyon and Hiku the Muse
- The Way of Brambleshanks, a small philosophical religion made by cats that is all about finding your place in the universe. Syncretic.
Vetevism
The Final Choir of Vetevism is a doomsday cult devoted to The Chimera, also called Chiminaros or Suvatera. Vetevism is obsessed with lineage and geneology, as their stated religious goal is to breed and alter mortal species into their perfect forms. When the perfect people are born, they will usher in the end of the world and save only the souls of those who helped make them. Vetevism also seeks to create the perfect culture, one of discipline, focus, knowledge, and piety - a way of living fit for perfect creatures. Vetevic choir members are pushed to constantly physically conform to the demands of the religious elites, who tightly control who can marry or have children with whom. Vetevism has propogated a multi-hybrid species known as Choricals, though the Choir hopes to perfect them even further. Their symbol is the Butterfly and the Choir is often led by Bards. The Singing Church of Orisha is a doomsday cult devoted to Halcyon through her supreme prophet and ultimate form Hiku the Muse. The Orishans believe that sufficient art, prayer, belief, and focused willpower can change the world materially. Individually, this means that you can use focus and willpower to shape your life positively. Collectively, the Church teaches that this ability must be used to initiate the end of the world and create a better one, or Halcyon will end it first and doom even you. The Church is really into mental control: accepting what the Church says is true no matter what, feeling intense guilt for even incorrect thoughts, and pushing their members to isolate and ignore any who leave the religion. Orisha is often led by Bards or paladins of Hiku the Muse. Tags: Bards, Paladins, One True God, Missionaries, ControlThe BrambleWay
The Way of Brambleshanks is a small religion in the cold South of Nafena devoted to the teachings of the ascended cat warlock Cosmic Lord Brambleshanks. It is a philosophy focused on helping people find their roles in the world - 'What NPC are you'? - and perfecting that role. Some people follow just this religion and worship Brambleshanks, The Masked One, and The Hidden One as the supreme Gods. Other people follow this religion and another religion. The Brambleway is very accepting of cats and warlocks. Tags: Cats, Knowledge, Not About Gods, Mysticism, WarlocksMaradia
Maradia is a continent divided. There are several local religions that are common among the elites, and a few foreign religions that have begun to spread rapidly among the disenfranchised commoners. The local religions are:- The Final Choir of Vetevism, a doomsday cult that wants to create the ultimate species that will take the chosen away to heaven while the world burns. Worships The Chimera
- The Singing Church of Orisha, a doomsday cult that believes that sufficient willpower and indoctrinated thinking can change or end the world, to bring about a utopia. Worships Halcyon and Hiku the Muse
Keveket
Keveket worships Halcyon as the supreme creator God and Agamine the Lost as her supreme prophet and representative. Keveket is a cold, logical religion that believes that the cosmic order, morality, society, and truth can all be boiled down into hard facts and math. It cares a lot about people's purposes, which are defined by their natural abilities and must be pursued to one's best ability. Keveket tends to elevate the "smartest" as those who should lead and Keveket temples frequently test the perceived intelligence of the faithful. Keveket worship spurns all emotion and irrational spiritual feelings in favor of calm meetings, discussions, and pledges. Keveket believes that calm and tranquility are morally superior to all other emotions. The religion teaches that it is better to refrain from action than to act in morally dubious ways. Elite Keveket see themselves as the caretakers of the world, knowing parents who must gently correct the squabbling children. Poorer people who are Keveket have their own traditions, rituals, and gods that the elites frown on. Tags: Knowledge, Order, Peace, Individualism, One Main GodHeksala
The Hierarchy of Heksala worships Halcyon as the one true god named Tua who has four forms - The Architects. The world is full of spirits, but these are not worth worshipping and are fallible beings not too different from people. The only spirits worth worshipping apart from Tua are the Colors, which are aspects of God at work. The Heksala believe in converting foreigners and worshipping Tua through travel and sacrifice. The Heksala generally teach that trade and commerce are morally good, as they better allow for the spread of Tua's wisdom. Personal change, travel, and growth are encouraged as key elements of worship, though a person's journey should always come back to and benefit their home community. The Temple of Ishket worships the mysterious force Ish as the supreme God, and Ishkibal as its vessel and prophet. The Gods Agamine the Lost and Lily of Red are also seen as vessels of Ish, which always works in threes. Ish built the world through struggle and Ishket teaches that struggle and conflict are inherently good if done correctly. All people must fight to survive and the world is full of evil to be struggled against. Confidence, courage, and conflict are morally correct. Ishket is also a paranoid religion that teaches that the rest of the world is scary, evil, and out to get you. Your reflection is an evil spirit, nightmares are demonic attacks, and diseases are curses by demons. The only two ways of staying safe are fighting a good fight (either for sport or against evil) or by purifying yourself in a ceremony of community forgiveness. Ekraht is a continent with a few active religions:- Kamada, a relaxed religion all about keeping balance between the twin Gods Aizusha and Uarta (Sky and Flame). All about surviving the cycles of death and rebirth.
- The Great Daraka, a religion dedicated to Halcyon through her supreme prophet Wimbo Aizitu. All about heroes, worship through deeds, and prophecy.
- Keveket, a religion dedicated to Halcyon and her prophet Agamine the Lost. All about cold logic and "intellect".
