Loanuan Giant Moa
The Loanuan Giant Moa is a great and dangerous bird, true megafauna native to the island of Loanua. The Moa's abdomen is fluffy, fat, and highly muscled, and its legs are huge and powerful. Its claws include an extendable razor-claw, which can be devastating when used in a leaping strike. The neck and head of the moa seem comically slender in comparison. Giant Moas can grow truly enormous, rising to almost 7 feet tall to their back and over 12 feet tall to their outstretched head in the largest specimen.
The Loanuan Giant Moa is omnivorous and can eat just about anything, but their primary ecological niche is that of the large herbivore. That does not make them docile or friendly, though: the Giant Moa can be territorial and defensive of its flock, and is certainly not above eating too-close small livestock or animals when hungry.
The Loanuan Giant Moa, along with the Giant Loanuan Eagle, is one of the two species that can imbue bonded humanoids with a Meako bond.
The Loanuan Moa was saved from extinction by Halcyon many centuries ago in the Divine Era.
