Giant Loanuan Eagle

The Giant Loanuan Eagle is the largest naturally occuring flying bird in Halika, which was saved from extinction alongside the Loanuan Giant Moa by Halcyon.   The Giant Eagle is a truly enormous bird, roughly the size of a humanoid just in their main body and easily overshadowing a person including their wings. It preys on larger animals like Moas, goats, sheep, and cattle. Once, the Eagle was the sole large predator of Loanua, but centuries of contact with the mainland has led to them losing that ecological niche. It is only by the grace of Halcyon and its new symbiotic magical relationship with humanoids that the great bird remains alive in sizable numbers.   The Loanuan Giant Eagle, along with the Loanuan Giant Moa, is one of the two species that can imbue bonded humanoids with a Meako bond. Meakos can even ride their giant eagles, sometimes even carrying a second person
