sən.feŋ Kidnapping Arc
tldr sf gets snatched by the government(?) of his home city (or at least the place he was kept; wherever the most major gensang temple is), partially because they thought he was kidnapped (and partially because he actually ran away to join a war). Xianshèng (and some/all of the kě no dànhúa | Hands of Dànhúa, depending on who's available and would realistically do so) has to go get him back.
Structure
Resolution
- takes place in a quiet moment after sf is brought back to base. Xianshèng is sitting against a tree with their eyes closed. They open them when they sense sf get close.
- while sf is completely prohibited from receiving Gensang tattoos, he does have his own design (since tattooing others is such an intimate cultural practice, and because it holds even more weight due to his religious position)
- Gensang tattoo their own tattoos on non-gensang traditionally to mark them as "honorarily gensang", but it has also come to be an expression of extreme trust-- something that most languages struggle to capture the depth of. Sf, as someone in a particular religious position, is technically also allowed to tattoo his mark on other gensang, but he blatantly refuses to do so
- sf quietly approaches xs with a small kit, decorated intricately. He takes one of their arms, turns the inside up, and starts shaving it, to the knee-jerk bafflement of xs. They go to say something about it, but see the other supplies in the kit, as well as the expression on his face, and put the pieces together. Sf tattoos his design, just as quiet as when he approached. He bandages it once he's finished, pushing a small pot of lotion into xs' hand, and sits back, about to stand up.
- xs catches the back of his head before he can (to his bafflement, this time), and presses their faces together (touching at the forehead and nose)*. after a long moment, they stand and walk back into the heart of base, leaving sf by the tree.
- *its a masuge gesture of intimate trust, promise, and safety
