Robin
The power-hungry pugilist

Personal history
Born in a lab as the result of human experimentation, Robin had rarely tasted the outside world for a majority of his young life. He occasionally ventured outside the walls of his facility when changing locales, but was ultimately shackled to his birthplace. It was a generally comfortable life, though. Food and entertainment were available on-demand, and he had very few obligations besides daily physical and mental check-ups. Still, the ennui of such a structured, sheltered life left something to be desired. So, at age 11, he decided to escape. With a rudimentary understanding of his abilities, he took an opportunity during one of his brief outside excursions to stray from his guardians and lose himself in the strut the facility occupied.
Newly loosed onto the world, Robin took the limited knowledge he absorbed from his avid love for books available in the facility to survive on the streets. He often spent most of the day in a local library, either cultivating his knowledge further or learning about the history of the world and the bridge he inhabited. His way of getting meals served a dual purpose, stealing from food stands and carts with his affinity to both fill his stomach and cultivate his abilities. It wasn't long, though, that he was observed and eventually taken in by a group of street urchins calling themselves the "Thieves' Guild" despite lacking any proper documentation of a proper guild. The leaders explained to him that the guild was made up of those who fell outside the quota of who the Trans-Atlantic was said to house and protect, those being prior lawbreakers, runaways, stowaways, and 'shit-stirrers'. Even with the motley of vices surrounding him, Robin gladly integrated himself into the found family of thieves.
Despite the occupation of his comrades, Robin found himself a lousy sneak. At about 6 feet tall by the time he turned 12 years old, he had little time to get used to his nephilic body before being plunged into dangerous scenarios requiring the utmost dexterity and stealthiness. It quickly grew apparent to his partners that subterfuge wasn't his specialty, however, and he began to receive tasks more suited to his body and abilities. He learned to be a spotter, guard, and general muscle of the fold. His slim stature betrayed his strength he could hit like a train and take quite the beating as well; a latent benefit of his affinity, perhaps? Robin didn't question the cause but rather leaned into his newly forming skillset.
As Robin became more experienced, however, he also became more notorious. Even in the hushed tones of Trans-Atlanta's underground, word does eventually get out of a young ruffian with unbelievable powers. It's only when King's Collective agents begin skulking around the guild's usual haunts that it became apparent that Robin was being hunted once again. Not wanting to call unwanted attention to his comrades and put the guild in further danger, he left the strut at age 14 through the under-bridge maintenance catwalks, bypassing its fences and other barriers with his now-honed affinity.
At this point, he is once again wandering the struts by his lonesome, now disillusioned from any sense of longstanding camaraderie. He avoids any prolonged contact with potential peers, not wanting to grow attached and inevitably be torn away. Occasionally he encounters King's Collective field agents that force a change of locale, but otherwise enjoys relative anonymity through reclusiveness. Could someone possibly break him out of his shell...?
Education
While under observation, Robin was given an ample education base, as well as a sizeable library of books. While he disliked being taught in the classroom, he gained a love of reading at an early age. Due to his numerous restrictions, they were realms of infinite possibility that gave insights, however small, on the outside world. After he ran away, however, Robin avoided any kind of formal education. He stuck around libraries, considering its selection and the lessons he learns from the world itself to be all the teaching he needed.
Employment
Robin had taken up thievery long before he was fit to work: something that stuck with him until his late teens. Later in life, Robin is granted amnesty and employment by the very corporation that plagued most of his young life, King's Collective Incorporated. He works as a personal bodyguard and retainer for the heiress of the company, Evelyn LeRoi.
Mental Trauma
A few months after splitting from the thieves' guild, Robin had an encounter with an old acquaintance: a fellow test subject from the human experimentation projects. While Robin was initially thrilled to finally find a companion that could truly relate to him, the daemon had different ideas in mind. Before he could react, they sprung forward and slashed at his face. He had avoided major damage for the most part, but his left eye had gotten clipped, rendering the eyelid immovable and eye useless. He narrowly escaped the encounter with his life but continues to be wary around other daemons, his old "friend" especially.
Intellectual Characteristics
Despite his somewhat brutish nature, Robin is quite well versed in past history and literature. His general liking of books and gaining knowledge lends him a fairly sizeable vocabulary as well, though he tends to prefer a few choice words than the often-flowery language of his contemporaries. As with his physical reflexes, Robin is also fairly quick on the uptake, able to process and evaluate unfamiliar situations at a quick pace.
Morality & Philosophy
One thing Robin absolutely despises is lofty platitudes. Philosophy itself is a mixed bag for him as well, so he tends to stick to a few internalized tenets. Protecting and maintaining one's own wellbeing takes precedent over anything else; a lesson he learned in the guild. You're under no obligation to help others with their problems, but a little common courtesy doesn't hurt. Whatever you do, though, and however you do it, don't put those close to you in danger. He's done it more times than he'd care to admit.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Lacking the proficiency to the affinity innate to natural-born nephilim, Robin constantly works towards expanding his capabilities and growing in power. All the while, he tries to uncover the truth about the angels, nephilim, and himself despite the strange scarcity of information.
Likes & Dislikes
- Robin has a great appreciation for books, whether they are purely informative or tell wild tales of far-away lands.
- He likes to look for busywork whenever possible; being idle just doesn't sit right
- Ironically, Robin has a great distaste for the ocean and much of what comes from it. In a society that consumes 80% fish, this means slim pickings from most menus.
- Encounters with a certain canine daemon have left him with a general distaste for dogs of any kind.
Personality Quirks
- Tends to scratch hair when bored or thinking
- Left eye opens slightly when surprised or angry
- Sentences often trail off...
