Background

Rubina was a teacher to a group of kids. Rubina was witness to a horrible mudslide that resulted in casualties. After the mudslide, she found a pygmy hippo, and kept it, naming her Laura.

Act 1: (S:01 - Current)

S:01 - Rubina arrives at the Magaambya, and learns where to go, however sees initiates being lost around the academy. She begins to direct people to the Scroll & Sunbird. As Nymeria arrives at the Magaambya Academy, and standing in the rain, Rubina walks up to Nymeria, and along with Adira and Orvin, after travel together to begin their initiation.

The group encounters their first battle, and Rubina supports by shielding others, and almost smiting the water scamp with a powerful strike. After the fight, she meets Takulu Ot, and begin the initiation.

After successful rounds of tests to prove to Takulu Ot that they were worthy of joining Magaambya, Rubina most interests? strong belief that order and justice must be brought to the world. And that it must be done through community. Whatever path leads to that interests her the most. Greatest strength? Rubina acted as teacher to many students and casually drops that they accidentally kill her parents What are you looking for from school? She believes there is much more to learn and bring to others through the "Mother Jaguar" Hopeful that others at the academy will help her spread this through community and not harm for others. What will you achieve? Children with parents smiles. Takulu apparently knows a bit about what happened to Rubina. Rubina is not a fan of what Tkulu says at the end.

The group choose a symbol, and earn a cantrip and and an entrance bead and are officially Initiates.

Welcome to the Magaambya

S:02 - The group was touring around the Magaambya.

The group arrives at the Powder Pile, and meet with Xhokan. They received clay to form their beads, and a 40 gold stipend.

They enter the Spire Dormitory, and meet Esi, Chizire, and the rest of the dormitory. After they settle down, they walk with Esi to the dining hall.

Arriving, they encountered a spectral bison and cheetahs attacking the stalls around the hall. The party slew the summoned creatures without taking a single hit This is when they met Mariama and Ignaci. The group admits the bison was very scary and smelly to reassure Mariama's worry about her bison being too weak.

S:03 - During dinner, the group meets with Teacher Ulawa, and after a few questions, they finish their dinner and finish the day off.

The group ends their night with their nightly tasks, Rubina takes a moment to pray to Mother Jaguar, and receive commendations from her.

The First and Second Task - Duck, Duck, Ojofiri

The following morning, the group does their morning routines. The group meets with Esi, who explains the tasks that follow, and the Perquisite. Then she introduces Haibram.

Haibram is an aeromancer who flies on air kites and is going to be providing the First Task. The task commences and the group enters the markets. They meet some people who recently purchased an Ojofiri chicken, and they are pointed towards the direction of the stall. They find the stall with the chickens ran by Makena, and with a quick bartering they successfully complete the task.

As they return to Haibram, before they got a chance to celebrate, Esi rushes in to begin the Second Task, the pugwampis. Knowing that this would be more of a social battle, they instead go to find Anchor Root.

Adira convinces Anchor Root that they can indeed help with the pugwampis, and the Second Task was complete. Since this was already completed a day early, the group had a free day.


Dreams Of Red Eyes (Formating Required)

We flash to Rubina's dreams. She as a child in a round chamber and she hears the sounds of the jungle. There are two individuals beckoning towards Rubina to come towards them, and she recognizes the voices she hears from them. Microscopic motion is presented in front of her…like grains of sand on this mound. Rubina does her best to touch her mother, as she gets bitten by an ant while getting closer to this nest. Rubina realizes legions of ants are present, and begin to speak to her in her dream(?!?!?). "You were so close" rings out in her ears, and young Rubina wishes to be able to go back and take her parents place instead. "It doesn't have to be….death is not an ending….I can give them back….the egg…you must find the egg….so close". Rubina attempts to snap out of her child mind and return to her adult form….but she is unable to do so. In the jungle far away Rubina hears screaming…not human….violence promised…the faint image of a jaguar and a powerful presence…"MINE" and scares off the scary ant presence. Hooray(?). …. "good, good" "Faster…through the jungle…the past is right behind you" Rubina hesitates for a moment and has the pull to look behind her. She resist, but can't shake the inner child wanting to see her parents just one more time. She knows its wrong and that she wont get what she wants, but right now she still has the bandwidth to persist. However she knows she has the ability to crack. Rubina awakens to gaze upon the beauty of Laura before returning to slumber.


The Third Task - I'mbo, Youmbo, We're All Umbo.

S:04 - The group begins the Third Task given by Chizire to collect ingredients, with Noxolo accompanying. With the first task to collect bones, Nymeria and Orvin begin to distract people around as Eshe and Noxolo collect a cow corpse. A local citizen throws some shade at necromancers and many of the party take time to push back through intimidation where a tough moment between Rubina and Noxolo around being a necromancer, and Rubina's expressed dissatisfaction with it. As the bones were the first to be found, the group decides to venture out of the academy and Nantambu, to enter the jungle to locate the Scarlet Caps.

As they explore the jungle, Rubina recalls her exploration of the jungles at home and recalls back to poison ivy and similar plants. Rubina is keeping eyes peeled for plants that would give her a rash or other discomfort.

The group arrives at a large clearing, where a tree in the middle was found, with growing scarlet red mushrooms. Both Adira and Eshe take up the task to climb the tree. Suddenly, huge stomping is heard, and the giant mushroom Umbo attacks. With Noxolo knocked out, the party begins their fight.

S:05 - The party collects the final ingredients, and Adira and Rubina's wounds are treated by Uduak. The group then helps with the Third Task. The team finishes the Ritual, and successfully complete the Third Task.

The Fourth Task - Cohort's Divine Delivery Service

The party heads towards the Fourth Task, by Ignaci and Strands. It's mail delivery time, and the party will be on Elephant Birds. Rubina assists Adira into getting onto the elephant bird and gives guidance for them to succeed. A wholesome moment of the two expressing kindness to one another. The group travels through Nantambu, delivering mail towards multiple locations despite the addresses being difficult to decipher, and some even being meant for Gods.

Rubina of a mind to complete the job efficiently, but getting caught up in connecting with the receivers of the letters. Rubina connecting with a slack jawed young man and explaining how she had killed her parents. Rubina requesting that the man quickly respond to his mother immediately. The man takes time to write out a letter while sweating and doing his best to write a response, along with Rubina's watchful gaze. Rubina explains that the man will feel much better for doing this and she walks away 'knowing' that she has one the world a service by brining a child and parent closer together.

The group delivers a letter to a God, whom requires an egg to be swallowed. Another letter requires spells to be casted, and another sent to Gozrah, up in the sky. The final delivery is to a hut very far from Nantambu, the hut of a Green-eyed Witch. The hut however was infested with giant slugs trying to kill the witch within, and a cat! The party come in and slice and dice some slugs ("Yes chef! Behind! Re-fire!") and save the cat and the witch. The door opens and reveals Green-eyed Jatya, a harpy woman.

S:06 - The party introduces themselves to Jatya, who then explains to us why she's so far out of Nantambu. When Jatya comments what they sense with Eshe and the smell of death, Rubina does not like the curse talk, and leave the store as they feel uncomfortable.

As the party returns from a successful task, the group is treated to a feast by Ignaci and Strands. Rubina approaches Adira to inspect the Mudlily to search for a curse of some kind. Not finding anything, Adira gives Rubina the Mudlily and they both depart after a hug is given. They all head to the Spire Dormitory to rest for the remainder of the night.

The Fifth Task - Stories for the Uzunjati

The following day, the group heads to the final Fifth Task. They meet with Okoro and Esi, whom they must tell a tale for the Uzunjati.

Rubina steps forward and reports that Nymeria's words are very inspiring to her. that Rubina had come off a bit more rigid and uptight, and that they have learned that people can surprise you Rubina realizing that there are other thought processes that they had not taken before, but says that she will do everything in her power to protect each of the party members. If the party needs some strength, then Rubina will lend all that they can have. A prediction of all the ways that we can support eachother.

As the rest of the group tells their story and finish the task, they all decide on the Branch they will pick. Rubina, with Orvin and Adira join the Tempest-Sun Mages. The group travels in tandem to the Introduction Ceremory, where they find Mariama in a pool of her own blood, and the ambush begins.

The party quickly get rid of the threat, only after receiving a massive blow to the side of her chest from the creature. They successfully capture Kurshkin.

The Knights of the Broom Closet

S:07 - As they wait for the Pugwampi being interrogated, Nymeria is a bit distracted, dissociating with the events that occurred. With a successful interrogation with the aid of Adira, Eshe and Orvin, the party get just a little bit more information.

The group is escorted back to the Spire Dormitory by Mafika, and Adira reassures the group that we should look after each other. She invites everyone into her room. Before going to Adira's room, Rubina spends time with Laura processing the significance of what happens if Rubina dies.

As they all join, the discussion goes back and forth on what could possible be plotting against the Magaambya, enough to attack during the introduction ceremony. Some make insights about what could've happened, others had their own questions. After a few minutes of discussion, the meeting is adjourned, with every a little more comfortable that we're looking out for each other.

Three Months Pass By: Autumn Arrives.

S:08 - Time passes by as the initiates continue their studies.

Eshe and Rubina meet up and discuss Rubina's research into the egg that has permeated her mind. Laura is an orphan as well unfortunately. On a field trip Rubina tells a story of a student who led others deeper into the jungle, and a mudslide occurs. Laura's parents dying within the mudslide. Rubina acting as teacher to this girl, could not find the student. Not knowing if this child was real or if she was made up in some way.

Rubina takes steps to ask Eshe about their faith and overall loyalty to their deities. Rubina asks about loyalties wavering at all. An open and honest conversation on these topics and the sharing of God's responding to them, and working to spread and explore their teachings. Rubina instructed to seek an egg, and acquire it. Not knowing for what purpose or what it could be used for. Unknowing if it is even real, and wondering how this plays into her worship of Mother Jaguar. Eshe and Rubina taking time to discuss the eggs more, and the temptation that Rubina feels around this issue. Discussing the Vessicant Egg, Eshe notices that their bugs are chittering at the sight of this word.

At the library, Rubina was represent when Tonali manifested in front of the group for the first time at the Elephant Museum.

After a conversation about the event, the group goes to their planned visit to Teacher Ot, whom had a task ready for the Anteart Cohort. Teacher Ot mentions a status update on Kurshkin, and their plans for him. He continues with the plans to investigate the Tree Stump Library as shadows have been reported to be seen within the abandoned library, and has requested for the group to go retrieve some lost materials. The party leaves Nymeria and Teacher Ot to speak in a Silenced room. Rubina leaves to purchase equipment for the mission.

The Tree Stump Library Investigation

After some shopping, the group reconvenes at the Tree Stump Library to begin their investigation. The group enters the library. After a bit of exploration, the group encounters a group of Scrits who all attack, Tonali is summoned, and the fight ends with success, and finding one of the items needed.

A heavy thumping occurs from one of the doors, and the next battle begins.

S:09 - A series of battles occur within the Tree Stump Library, and each room had some level of investigation. Several Wasps, a swarm of silverfish, and lastly a large slime.

With the first door that had the wasps, hive made of paper-like material covered the room. The hives were broken to avoid any issue, and one of the books was found. Rubina and Adira recover from their wounds, and they visit the next room. The group enters and find books scattered about and furniture, and Eshe and Rubina find a cauldron lined with onyxes. The cauldron was saved for Noxolo as it is discovered to be used to communicate with the dead via spirit (alcohol). The room was also full of spellskeins that were hiding in the room. They were collected for safe keeping. As the party continues their search, they find a swarm of silverfish that were eating the spellskeins and other paper. They find another book, and move to the next room. There was a shape of a body made of ash in the middle of the room. The remains of a person who was locked in the room, who was imprisoned by spellbinding shackles with Thasolonian runes which Rubina found. When Rubina sensed what these shackles were, she dropped them, feeling disgusted and leaving the room.

The final fight with an ooze ends successfully after Adira and Rubina take a lot of damage, with Rubina falling unconscious.

S:10 - Rubina recovers from their wounds, and the party has finished the final portion of the investigation. Orvin and Nymeria collect ooze samples. After the final book was found, Nymeria offers to heal Adira's wounds. The group leaves the library and go direct to Teacher Ot.

Teacher Ot welcomes the group back, and the cohort explains all that transpired. The books are returned, then handed back to the group for each person. After everything was said and done, Adira provides the additional information about the person who was dead in the room. Ot's behavior noticeably changes, and begins to explain about the original Cohort years ago when he was in his own group. The group leaves to the Spire Dormitory.

Three Months Pass By: Winter Arrives

During the next three months, members of the Cohort investigate leads on the past events they've experienced, answers to mysteries yet to be understood.

Can I Be More Like You?

We pan out to Rubina being visited by Mariama coming to speak about the events of the ceremony where she almost died. Asking to know if she is weak. Requesting to follow in Rubina's foot steps by developing herself through hard work. rubina expressing that she will help, and that it can help, but Mariama has to take it seriously. Knowing that she or anyone else could die if Mariama fails. Mariama and Rubina make plans to train and have Mariama become better.

As time passes by, Rubina connecting more with Mariama and having her grow as a more competent fighter, without the use of lies.

During Crystalhue, Rubina gave several gifts to the Cohort, and Mariama.

The Starday Tournament

S:11 - Before the Starday Tournament, several members receive letters and gifts from people from afar that have finally reached the Spire Dormitory.

In the yard anchor root is captured by Strands's kids as Rubina gets a package from the Nighting gale school. The school Rubina had taught at when she had been in Nantambu previously. "the children wanted to wish you a happy Crystalhue." Lots of pictures painted of well wishes and other cute things from the students. Strands sharing how a letter from the children's father telling her to return home and be a #tradwife. Rubina and Strands agree that one day the father of her children will get some sense knocked into him.

The tournament begins, and Rubina watches as groups fight and fail against the wooden robots. She sees her own Spire Dormitory members get decimated on the second battle. Rubina has a crumb of guilt at taking a jab at Mariama, and gives Mariama a wink. Mariama sticks out her tongue, which Rubina finds rude.
Before the fight begins, Rubina and Eshe share a prayer to Kazutal, and Nocticula. Once the team is mentally prepared, the fights begin for the Anteater Cohort.

They win flawlessly against two battles, and now the third and possibly the most difficult challenge of them all begins.

S:12 - The team fights the last fight, and although challenging, the Cohort was victorious. The other members of the dormitory approach to celebrate and praise the party members.

Trembling Mentoring

Rubina with Mariama. Rubina explaining that she knows Mariama has a lot of strength, but she was concerned with how Mariama just got run over. Rubina explaining that she is wanting to try and use a new cantrip to send a message to Mariama with tremor sense. Mariama expressing her concern that there is no real way to ask or help while out and about. Rubina holding back a tear, she will turn away towards the door and says "what you feel in the ground, that is my way of asking if you are in danger" One thud, followed by two quick thuds. One means yes and two means no in response. Rubina returning to Laura, with a skip in her step, seeing what Laura's response to the tremor sense is. Laura stands with her head raised as high as possible, and Laura prepares to try and attack the floor. she gets scared and tries to hide between Mariama and Rubina. Mariama suggests that four quick tremors would be respond quickly, and three slow tremors for do not come here. Mariama asking if Rubina is okay, Rubina turning away and stating that there is just a lot of dust being kicked up. Mariama thanking Rubina for taking these steps and reports that this system makes her feel safer. Rubina thanking Mariama for entertaining these thoughts and proceeds to say that she is getting tired and ready to sleep. rubina feeling warm with Laura as a hand bag.

Tremor Sense (Still to be Formatted)

Rubina approached Eshe regarding the tremor spell to share the concerns on safety. Rubina sharing how the code was created to check on people if they are in danger or not. 1 tremor yes, 2 no, 3 saying to not come, 4 being urgernt and in need of immediate assistance. Ehse remarking that Rubina is well respected and her opinions on things are often looked into. Eshe saying how when they were younger people did not go looking for their opinions. rubina clapss her hands together and says that Eshe's opinion is one that has great respect and is admired the most. Enjoying how commited Eshe is to their prayers. Eshe reporting their thanks and states that they have more information about the egg. Rubina retreating momentarily and leaning back in. Eshe trying to glean if Rubina would be able to handle the information at this time, and deciding yes. Eshe states that the vessicant egg, a beacon to things that crawl on six or more legs, is likely what rubina is looking for. Something ominous about it. eshe not knowing if it should be sought out, but that Rubina should not seek this item alone at the very least. Eshe expressing concerns that the egg is trying to summon something. Rubina wondering if the egg is something that will hatch and summon something. this is an artifact that has been around for thousands of years. Learning that it was discovered near the doorway to the red star. For a long time it was cared for by a goup of elves that kept people from getting within eyesight of the door. Somehting happened and the egg was lost. It seems to call to insects and draw them closer. It is not known why. It has rarely been seen in person, but one of the only people who have seen it in person is Teacher Ulawa who wrote the book on the artifact itself. Eshe saying that it may be good to check more with Ulawa on this stuff when the opportunity arises. Rubina asks Eshe if they will help find this artifact, and Eshe agrees to. Rubina bows in thanks and verbally thanks Eshe for this information. Eshe expresses an apology to Rubina, and Rubina says there is no need as knowledge is power. Eshe offers rubina a paper lantern for their dreams to see if it will help rubina in discussing things with the ant being again. Rubina is visibly afraid, and stammers "maybe another night. Maybe you could be there when I use it". Eshe agrees to do so. Rubina also thinks that Adira should be there too to make sure someoene muscular is there. Eshe proceeds to walk Rubina to her room for the night. As they are returning Rubina is sending tremors with each step to Eshe in a bit of a frazzeled state. Eshe proceeds to do a prayer at Rubina's door. "May your night be peaceful as we await for the sun to arise" and they walk off into the night.

S:13 - A week passes by from Longnight, and The Anteater Cohort is at Ulawa's office to ask some questions about their investigations recently. Eshe and Rubina mention to Ulawa about the Vessicant Egg. Rubina mentions that they've dreamt of it. Ulawa theorizes that the Vessicant Egg can't possibly be controlling the insects as she has a working theory about mites, but Orvin questions this reasoning as well. With Adira's help in terms of the recent findings at the Tree Stump Library, Teacher Ulawa agrees to give us tasks to investigate further. With Anchor Root

With their investigation on their way, they stop by the Greenhouse to investigate an issue with Wood-eating beetles. Rubina is able to successfully see that the patterns seem purposeful, and she is able to notice that the patterns are part of a larger pattern of a rune of conjuration onto the constructs. Beetles in fact do not do this. Rubina calling the party's focus back to the constructs. Orvin sketches down the rune. Before they leave, Rubina carves out a portion of the rune out, and the beetles immediately spread all over the construct to feed normally. As they're leaving, Rubina asks Orvin if she did a good job, which Orvin agrees.
