Warlock
People who make deals with outsiders
Career
Qualifications
Unlike most other classes in the world of Godsen, Warlocks have no qualifications required. At most, a person must have a strong presence in the material world to be able to utilize the powers of the outsider more effectively.
Career Progression
Most Warlocks don't evolve beyond the title of Warlock, though they tend to gain more magic over time. Some Warlocks are able to convince others of being a wizard, and often progress into the Mage progression.
Payment & Reimbursement
Warlocks are given their magical abilities, and a single magic item (Or a magic companion, depending on the deal made.)
Other Benefits
Depending on the Warlock, they may get some form of benefits. All Warlocks gain magical powers, and upon death, have a great chance of becoming a Deathlock, which are non-sentient undead who only serve their masters and nothing else.. Warlocks who made pacts with Fiends, Fey, Great Old Ones do not gain any benefits outside of their magic powers, and Fiends and Great Old ones are often punished upon death through either being guaranteed to go to hell, or by having their essence absorbed into a great eldritch horror. Warlocks who make pacts with Undead powers are often invisible to most undead, and if they become a Deathlock, they keep their sentience, becoming something similar to a weak lich. Warlocks who make pacts with Angels and Celestials are often given healing powers, and are guaranteed a higher position in the heavens, depending on which celestial make the pact with them, and, instead of becoming a Deathlock, may become a Ki-rin if they are considered true heroes by their patron. Those who make pacts with those who can create hexblades gain only the magical powers, and do not become a Deathlock or any other benefits, which maybe a benefit in it of itself.
Perception
Social Status
Warlocks come in all forms of social status, though opinions of a warlock are often low on the social ladder once someone is discovered to be one.
Demographics
Operations
Tools
An arcane focus, a pact item (In the event of those who gain the pact of the Chain, a familiar), and evidence of the deal (Often not a physical object, but can be.)
Workplace
Typically, Warlocks don't have a special workplace, though there are two exceptions. Some Warlocks make pacts with outsiders they worship, and therefore, work in fanes and temples dedicated to the patron. Warlocks of Genies, however, work inside their own specially created lamp.
Provided Services
Warlocks often provide a similar service of Wizards and Fighters. Either Wartime mages who lead battles, Town guards who just so happen to have otherworldly magic, to Special mages who work in a single field of work. Though, upon discovery of their Warlock heritage, most are chased out of their positions, unless they made a pact with a Celestial.
Dangers & Hazards
The deal itself and angry mobs are often the most dangerous part of being a Warlock. Breaking a pact with a Fiend, Fey, Celestial, or Lich often come with devastating consequences, though they cannot take the Warlock's powers. Fiends and Fey also often put small addons to their deals, for Fiends to more easily make the Warlock break the contract, and for Fey to simply get more enjoyment out of the deal. Great Old Ones don't make deals, and often Warlocks of them tend to siphon their power from them without their knowledge. Hexblades are special, as the actual hexblade is an attachment to the Warlock's soul, which allows him to summon a Hexblade or turn a weapon into a hexblade. No pact is made from hexblades.
Angry Mobs are formed by Warlocks often because many believe, and rightfully so, that those that make pacts with Devils, Feys, Eldritch Horrors, Undead, or Mysterious entities, are often evil or stupid, and are very dangerous. Many also believe that allowing such a person in their homes and towns will damn them to the hells for turning their back to the gods, so they often form out of fear of betraying the gods. Warlocks who make pacts with Celestials often do not need to face Angry mobs, though they tend to have to explain their pact.
