Finlay Hunt

Childhood and Upbringing

Finlay Hunt was born into a prominent farming family in Foratorra. While his father was a somewhat significant farmer, even being part of an advisory body to Tyaltarr III, duke of Foratorra, farmers like him were still looked down upon by the nobility. The nobility of Foratorra prided themselves on their prowess in close combat adorned in splendid armour, so archers were always drafted from farming families. Despite the disdain from the nobility, the farmers found great joy in testing their marksmanship. Thus, Finlay learned to wield a bow from a young age.   Things would take a turn for Finlay in 203 AG. Tyaltarr III had suffered an accident during a Gauntlet Melee duel that left him with severe brain damage, that later developed into schizophrenia. His rule was just when he ascended to the throne in 201 AG, but when Tiago II of Aldarr died in 203 AG he decided to break Foratorra's vassalage to the city. This was a deeply unpopular move with the peasantry, since Tiago II was an extremely popular ruler. Out of paranoia, he lured the heads of the prominent farming families, including Finlay's father, after which they were promptly executed for their apparent disapproval of Tyaltarr III.

Company of Thorns

Fearing further repercussions, most farmers fled to Stellcida for safety. However, Solaster the Wise, ruler of Stellcida, feared that taking in subjects of Tyaltarr III would be too provoking, and refused to let them in. As a compromise, he would learn them to live in the dangerous Thorn Forest. Solaster the Wise figured that the Winterthorn that grows there would be a good deterrent.   Here, Finlay together with other able-bodied refugees would form the Company of Thorns, an outlaw gang that declared themselves sworn enemies of Tyaltarr III. They would mostly perform minor raids with some succes. A big break came in 205 AG with the infamous The Heist of House Haldarr. Finlay would among a few of his comrades to deliver the loot to Aldarr. However, when the city guard came to investigate, violent riots broke out in the crowd. While Finlay's comrades managed to escape, Finlay got caught in the fight, and was stabbed in the leg, losing so much blood that he passed out. When the city guard tried to drag him away, the crowd rescued Finlay from his captors. The city guard retreated, and Finlay was treated to his wounds in a citizen's home. Later that night, the city guard returned to capture the instigator of the riots who was reportedly hiding in the city quarters. Still unconscious, Finlay was smuggled out of city to relatives of his care-takers (the place where the campaign will start). When he woke up, he learned that most people involved in saving his life were executed by the city guards.

Current Situation

Finlay's current situation has been a struggle to remedy his feelings of guilt and remorse, his slow recovery of his sustained wound that has drained the strength from his body, revenge against those he perceives as his enemies and a longing for his home in the Thorn Forest.
