Tyaltarr III
The Gilded Duke, The Unstable Usurper
Childhood and Upbringing
Tyaltarr III was bron in 182 AG to Ezequiel I of House Selvagem in Foratorra. Growing up, he showed a great interest in history and chivalry. In addition to these intellectual areas of interest, he also excelled in many physical activities. He developed into a master blacksmith, a skill that is highly valued in the forge town of Foratorra. After years of training, he would become an expert in Gauntlet Melee, a gladiatorial combat sport practiced in Foratorra. He was by all means set to become a model ruler and was a popular fighter in Gauntlet Melee, attracting huge crowds to watch him duel. However, he was seriously injured during one of these duels. Even though he won the fight in the end, the concussion he suffered still affect him until this day. He experiences drastic mood swings and heavy headaches from time to time, and was forced to retire from Gauntlet Melee as he was seen as unfit to continue by his father Ezequiel I. The astonishing 11 victories without a single defeat still remains an unbroken record in the sport.Time as Duke
After the death of his father Ezequiel I in 201 AG, Tyaltarr became Ruler of Foratorra. As Foratorra had always been a subject to Aldarr, he inherited the title of Duke. In his first year, he ruled the town well, adding to his already high popularity from his time as a Gauntlet Melee fighter. He would be nicknamed 'The Gilded Duke' for his illustrious appearance and his noble rule. However, the symptoms of his concussion would worsen, developing into severe schizophrenia. Some days he appears sane, ruling Foratorra justly. Some other days, he fires his most trusted advisors for no reason. It is difficult to tell in what state Tyaltarr III will awake, but in the last years his mental state has been deteriorating. After the death of Tiago II, he declared the independence of Foratorra. The inexplicable move was extremely unpopular in Foratorra, especially in the army, as they loved Tiago II. He ordered the army to arrest people protesting the decision. Roughly 100 soldiers decided instead to flee the city, fearing for their own life. They became known later as the Company of Thorns after asking asylum in Stellcida. Later, when Tyaltarr III was able to regain some control over himself again, he deeply regretted what he had done. He locked himself up in the throne room, commanding his advisors that he should not be let out. This would only worsen his condition, and he began to change personalities more frequently.
