Klagenfurt
Klagenfurt, capital of the Signoria of Denence, rises by the sea: salt-breeze drifting in from the docks, barnacled piers creaking under fishing boats, warehouses stacked with grain and salted fish. The city’s heart beats in its port: sails unfurling, ropes creaking, gulls crying. Narrow cobbled streets climb from the quays to whitewashed stone houses crowned with red tile roofs. The Cathedral of Dhara towers above, its bells tolling for both prayer and decree.
Inside the city walls, the markets are noisy—fishmongers, traders of cloth, young apprentices hauling barrels, priests in blue robes passing through. Vernor’s seal hangs at the gates; a red banner with a boat anchor marks Denence’s claim to the sea.
