Dawnlight, the Prismatic City
Dawnlight, a marvel of shimmering prisms and radiant marble, stands as a beacon within the Weave. Known as the Prismatic City, it is home to the Herald of Dreams and serves as a sanctuary for mortal faith and devotion to the gods. The city’s golden spires and reflective surfaces glimmer beneath a domed sky, its brilliance a stark contrast to the fraying strands of the dreamscape.
Approaching Dawnlight reveals its breathtaking beauty: towering five-story buildings crafted from prisms and mirrors, adorned with golden accents and steep gables. Polished marble stairways emit a faint hum, glowing softly with each step. At the city’s heart lies a still, mirror-like lake encircled by the circular city. Suspended above the lake hangs a massive brass lantern, tethered by a chain to the sky. Yet the lantern’s door hangs ajar, its light extinguished, and the lake beneath it appears drained of color—a haunting void in an otherwise vibrant world.
Crossing the gated glass and white stone bridge, visitors are met by guards known as Insomknights. Clad in deep purple robes and armed with spears tipped by prism-like blades that refract dazzling patterns of light, they patrol the city with an air of unease. “Halt,” one commands, his voice resonant like distant wind chimes. “Dawnlight is shuttered to all outsiders. If you wish to dream in peace, return from whence you came.”
At the city’s core rises the Aleazar Celestia, a towering stronghold of white light and faith. Visible even from the Drift Trail, this bastion serves as both a place of worship and the seat of the Dream Herald’s power. Yet its halls hold many secrets, and the recent disappearance of the Orbicus of Sleep has left the city vulnerable. The Strandweavers—Dawnlight’s dream wardens—grow increasingly anxious as their connection to Twilight frays, threatening the balance of dreams and nightmares.
Beyond its radiant façade, Dawnlight struggles under the weight of its hidden truths. Insomknights patrol its perimeter with tense precision, wary of attacks from within the dreamscape. The city’s craftsmen, like the blacksmith Harthulius, labour to maintain tools and Dream Anchors needed for the Deep Quiet shields protecting the communes. Meanwhile, the Milkthistle Foragers seek rare herbs that grant respite from restless sleep, their efforts hindered by the turmoil engulfing the dream realm.
