Wyvern

Wyverns are a large and varied class of Lesser Dragons born from the Hurricane Cradle. They are four-limbed, with two legs and two wings, and typically a long neck and a long, muscular tail with a venomous stinger at the end. They are smaller than True Dragons, Dragon Turtles or Wyrms, but are the largest of the flocking dragons.   Wyverlings are the size of hawks, but act more like social corvids. They flock in groups of as many as fifty, referred to as 'worsens', but are more scavengers than hunters.   Terats are hunters. Hound-sized, they live in packs of ten-to-twenty, with adult terats hunting in coordinated groups of about half that number to support the young and the elderly. They are far and away the most social of the wyverns.   Natras are larger than a horse and can carry a Sympatic rider. Wild natras live in groups of up to ten adults, which are called crakes.   Wyverlings, terats and natras can, if raised from the egg, be domesticated, to a degree. They are all naturally ill-tempered, however, and while they can be useful working animals, do not make good pets.   The name wyvern is properly reserved for a subspecies with an average weight close to that of an elephant, with the largest almost twice that size. They have a truly impressive wingspan to carry that bulk, but rarely live in groups of more than five individuals, usually a breeding pair and up to three hatchlings. They are more intelligent than smaller wyverns, and almost impossible to train, resenting any form of restraint or subjugation.
