Sagnabok
The Sagnabok, or book of stories, is a deck of Playing Cards used for divination. It not only always contains the 22 trumps, but some divinitory decks only include the trumps. All of the cards in the Sagnabok have elaborate designs and individual names.
The Lesser Chapters
The suits of the Sagnabok are called the Lesser Chapters. While some are numbered like a playing deck, each rank of suit card is given a name which describes its role in a divinatory spread. Each card has two meanings, one when upright and one when reversed. The first seven have reversed meaning when reversed, while the upper four represent a person when upright, and a personal trait when reversed.- Epitome - The pure incarnation of the suit's themes and meanings.
Reversed: The antithesis of those themes. - Duality - Relationships between people, things, ideas.
Reversed: Conflicts. - Division - A loss.
Reversed: A need. - Triumph - A success, great or small.
Reversed: A reach that exceeds the grasp. - Vergence - An opportunity.
Reversed: A source of danger. - Gambit - A risk bars the path.
Reversed: Confusion abounds. - Curse - Destruction, doom.
Reversed: A last chance to avert disaster. - Prentice - A student or beginner.
Reversed: Youthful folly or innocence. - Journeyer - A peer or equal, a colleague, or a rival.
Reversed: Determination. - Adept - A superior or dangerous enemy.
Reversed: An obligation or promise to be kept. - Ascendent - A divine or transcendent force.

The Suits
- Suit of Treasures - The suit of Treasures is linked to the Element of Earth. The cards of this suit represent the material and the concrete, people and their possessions. The Treasures also represent analytical thinking and the senses, which bind the self to the world.
- Suit of Roads - The Roads represent movement; travel within the world and the drives that motivate such journeys. As such, they are the suit of Air. The suit also represents decisions to be made, and the conscious mind.
- Suit of Fires - The Fires stand for growth, the spark of life as well as that of Lightning. The suit represents narrative thought and imagination, and the ability to tell stories.
- Suit of Lairs - The suit of Lairs represents that which is hidden or buried; descents and especially endings. It is the suit of Water. It stands for emotion and the influence of the subconscious.
