Suit of Fires
The suit of Fires, also called the suit of Lightning, the suit of life, and the suit of logic, is one of the suits of a standard Galathan Playing Card deck. It is third-ranked, below the Treasures and Roads, but above the Suit of Lairs.
It represents growth and the spark of life, the element of lightning and imaginative, narrative thought.
Heading: The safety and shelter of the hearth. A nurturing cradle for life. The spark from which things can grow. A place of protection. The first spark of the magination.
Reversed: The wilderness beyond the firelight. Danger. The decay of mind or matter. Mere pedantry and rote learning.
Heading: A pair, one old and one young. Parent and child, mentor and protégé, teacher and student. A source of inspiration and hope.
Reversed: An act of betrayal. Teachings abused in service of corrupt philosophy. Thoughtless conventionalism.
Heading: The worst loss imaginable. Stillbirth. The death of innocence and the dying of the light. A state of depression.
Reversed: A craving for legacy, physical or historical. A fear of irrelevance.
Heading: A story, complete and compelling. History or holy scripture that echoes beyond the writer's life. The truth of the moment.
Reversed: A call to anarchy. A mob whose voice drowns out its once-master.
Heading: A symbol of power or authority to be wielded. A chance to start a flame that might outlive you.
