Mountain Orcs
The Orcs of the central mountains of Erask are especially large and strong - heights up to eight feet are not unusual in adults - but are most noted for their culture. Enjoying a pleasant climate and the security brought by their intimidating physical presence, they have developed a tradition of city-building and diplomacy, as well as martial prowess, and enjoy the respect of most of Erask.
Mountain orcs have greenish skin and hair that ranges from red to brown to black. They wear more jewellery than other daks, including fine chains of gold and silver to carry their totem locks. Although many of them have eschewed their warlike past, they have a proud warrior tradition, and most mountain orcs will carry a curved blade that is presented to them at their coming of age.
The mountain orcs are divided between three daks. The Northern Rathak form the population of Carif including the ruling classes of the Sovereignty. Many of this dak also have heritage from the Tundra Orcs. The Southern Rathak are a part of the Ward of Coris, and include a substantial population of sailors and fisherfolk. The Danak have a more aggressive culture and a reputation as warriors. The Isha-raks of Isha are scions of the Danak, and their ancestors the founders of the Western Horde. Dak Danak also includes large numbers of Plains Orcs and those of plains heritage, from the days of the Horde.
